Papaphilly | 309 comments If there ever was a modern Aesop Fable, Clockwork Chickadee would have to be a strong contender. Great Story.

Sabri | 226 comments Enjoyable read. Much like a modern day fable as Papaphilly astutely observed. Themes of materialism, destiny, epistemology, self-modification, and hubris. Reminiscent of Mortal Engines and also of a previous short story group read Exhalation.

It's interesting that this tale of a clockwork Chickadee tricking the wind-up Sparrow is categorized as a Science Fiction piece when it really is more of a modern fable.
The Chickadee continues to frustrate the proud Sparrow until she entices the mouse to overwind him, similar to some of Aesop's fables. This tale is well written too!
