Tien (tiensblurb) | 1641 comments I started this book on audio (it's nearly 19 hours long) however, quarter of the way through, I just needed to get on faster because I really enjoyed the story and audio was just too slow! I do love time travel and I love crime as genres so this was a perfect comfort read for me except that again, I'm missing the romance. Well, I reckon it's a slow burn but it's a very slooooow burn. I'll have to get onto the next book soon!

It's an interesting premise in that a very able young woman (youngest woman admitted to FBI and seconded to CIA) got transported back in time. Added to that is her supposed background which supposedly mean she is super intelligent etc. But could she survive in a time not of her own? Without her usual modern conveniences / technologies? Better yet, could she solve a crime without her usual resources and tools?

Suspend all disbelief, of course, and just get on the ride.

Steeplechase - 534x time travel
BWF - Team Sassy Sisters - Letter M - 66x crime

NancyJ (nancyjjj) | 11071 comments I have this on my list for this month too. I’m glad you liked it despite the length. I often speed my books up too, and get faster toward the end.

I can’t remember if you read any of Kelly Armstrong’s crime time travel books. I started two series that I liked (one for historical mystery, and the other for fantasy romance). A Rip Through Time is about a cop who accidentally goes back in time when a killer did, I don’t recall any romance, but she helps a doctor solve crimes. A Stitch in Time also has crime, and it’s quite romantic and gothic. There are at least 7 books in all, including a holiday novella.

Diana Hryniuk | 837 comments I also loved the series and was very impatient with the slowly evolving romance plotline. Fortunately, the second novel proved to be more satisfying in this sense:)
