All. I’m new to this, so if this is the wrong type of post or not the right place, I apologize. I have just finished my first novel and my beta readers are going nuts. I’m not a first time author. My formatter will be done and it should be available in 2-3 weeks. It has everything that the name of this group would suggest wanting. Here is the synopsis: Spence Taylor is a loner who’s suffering from alcohol addiction. Once a promising D-I pitching prospect with multiple offers and a bright future, one night changed the course of his life forever. Now suicidal and cursed with vivid hallucinations that force him to relive the events that led to his downfall, he struggles to find a reason as to exactly why he deserves a better life moving forward, eventually seeking a higher power for both acceptance and forgiveness - and in the process finding the strength to conquer a battle that he doesn’t even realize he’s fighting.
Here is my query that I can’t get anyone to bite on: Dear ,
I am writing to seek representation for my first novel, “immaKulate,” a realistic fictional work of 74,000 words.
The book opens in a rundown trailer on the southwestern side of Jackson, MS. Spence Taylor is an alcoholic who is depressed, suicidal, and terrorized by hallucinations in the form of random appearances from a well-dressed stranger. The apparition he perceives, however, is indeed very real, and eventually it persuades him to confront many of the decisions he’s made in the past while encouraging reconciliation with others in the present.
This is not just some story about a drunk trying to be a better person though. At the heart of the matter is an even bigger mystery that ultimately unfolds into a divergent reality, complete with all the same players, only in this universe his life is considerably different as a professional athlete. And the stakes? Well, let’s just say they are much higher.
It will tug at the heartstrings of readers and take them on a ride that they never see coming.
I am a nurse anesthetist by trade and while this is my initial endeavor at writing a novel, it is not my first time being an author. I have written three editions of my self-published book about anesthesia entitled “What I Was Not >necessarily Taught About Anesthesia,” and since 2009, counting both what I’ve sold digitally and in the form of hardcopies out of my garage, I have sold roughly 10,000 copies by word of mouth to an audience of about 50,000 potential buyers.
I am including a synopsis below. I hope you like what you see and look forward to hearing back from you.
Yours,
Anyway, is this a safe group to get opinions on my content?
