Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 43 comments In my challenge thread, there was discussion a while back of Catherine and me doing a buddy read of The Morgaine Saga by C.J. Cherryh. I've been meaning to read it for a while as part of my goal to read the big books on my shelves.

Technically, this is 3 books! But even if people wanted to join in for part of it, that could be fun! The first book is Gate of Ivrel.

We don't have a particular start date picked out. I'm just finishing up my previous big book, which I wanted to do before starting another, so I'm pretty much good to go whenever! :)

CinCO | 124 comments This has been on my list since 2016, so I'd be happy to join in on the buddy read.

Catherine Walker | 9 comments I am good to go whenever as well.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 43 comments OK cool! :) I'm gonna start any time now. I'm a slow reader so don't feel hurried by me lol. I don't do a lot of buddy reads but I have no idea how long each chunk of this is gonna take me!

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 43 comments That prologue sure throws you into the deep end, eh? I'm glad it got easier to read after that! I've been sick this weekend and only managing a few pages at a time, but I'm on chapter 3.

CinCO | 124 comments Was inundated with library books, but finally started this last night. There is definitely lots of action. We just have to figure out the story between fight scenes.

CinCO | 124 comments These are pretty short. Finished book 1 and started book 2.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 43 comments I also finished book 1. Took me weeks, though. This is pretty typical of my buddy read experiences lol

I liked Gate of Ivrel! But it was also a lot of almost reaching their destination, getting dragged away from it, almost reaching it again, etc. At times it was tough to keep track of all the side characters and who was alive and who was on Vanye's side at any given time!

I might be taking a few days before reading book 2, as I have a library book that I only have a limited time with. :)

Catherine Walker | 9 comments I really need to get going on this. I have not done a lot of reading of physical books, mostly listening to audio from Libby. I do expect them to go fairly quickly when I get a chance, I've read the first three before, it's been decades though, so I do not remember much.

Liander (The Towering Pile) Lavoie (liannelavoie) | 43 comments This was supposed to be my spring long book, and here I am still reading it in late autumn lol. I have finally gotten back into this one and am reading book 2, Well of Shiuan. Pushing to finish this one and Les Mis by the end of the year, which will take some focus!

Since I had a pretty long gap between books 1 and 2, I'm kind of glad that this one started out following a different character. It's giving me a chance to get pulled in despite not remembering everything that happened in book 1 lol.

CinCO | 124 comments I read all 4 straight through. The 4th one was written several (author) years later and it was good to see the writing had improved.
