It seems to me to be an allegory of salvation history. The breaking of the Magic Jigsaw Puzzle (or maybe better, the creation) is the fall, Kial is Christ. I have to admit I don't follow the meaning of individuals becoming parts of the Puzzle, but the ending is the Second Coming.
