I have read several books by this author on "invisible" women behind the scenes - with Churchill, Carnegie, etc. I thought this was the best, maybe because the author had to make up more of it. Very little is know about Einstein's first wife. But there is speculation that she, a brilliant physicist, actually came up with the theory of relativity, though he took the credit. As a woman and an Eastern European, Mileva is looked down on by scientists and professors. She is understandably attracted to Albert because of their common interests and his charm. Alas, his charm extended to other women and he was essentially a jerk once they were married and had children. The author links the discovery of relativity to emotional incidents in Mileva's life, which probably isn't true, but works well in the story.
