While Gonzo is in surgery to save his life after the shooting, Lori, Alex’s mother, shows up in the hospital waiting room and demands Gonzo’s mother turn over the baby to her. Why is she so hellbent in getting custody of this child? Any suspicions beyond just truly wanting her child back?

I think she wishes she had never told Gonzo about the baby. I think the only reason she told him was to get some money out of him for childcare. She never thought he would want the baby. Now Lori has decided that she should have the baby and she will keep hounding him and his family to get her kid back.

Lori is self-serving and sees that baby as a meal ticket. I agree with Robin that she told Gonzo to get money and never thought he would actually want custody. Now that he has it, she will try to manipulate him again to get as much out of him as she can.

I agree! She is looking for money.
