AngryGreyCat (angrygreycatreads) | 554 comments A Small Death in the Great Glen by A.D. Scott I am intrigued by this one. It would be a main group read as it is a little bit more expensive that I would normally nominate.
$12.99 on kindle, $11.98 in paperback (New). There are copies availabe used for as little as $2.77.

As I didn't post the blurb for Slur, here it is:

'How would it feel to be accused of a murder you didn’t commit? To believe your friends, family and colleagues had turned against you. Would you reach breaking point or fight to prove your innocence?

Julie Quinley finds herself in this position following the events of one fateful night. She has to bear the slights and accusations of colleagues and acquaintances, and life becomes unbearable. Eventually, thinking that she has lost the respect of everyone around her, Julie plunges into a deep depression.

However, unknown to Julie, those closest to her are rallying support. She reaches a turning point when her friends reveal that they may have found the real killer. Realising she must act in order to clear her name, Julie joins them in trying to find evidence.

But proving a vicious murderer guilty is never going to be easy, especially when the police remain unconvinced. Will Julie and her friends succeed? And is their suspect really responsible for the crime?'

I'm really drawn to this one by the setting: Manchester in the '80s & the author includes a Mancunian glossary of idioms. (Not to worry; it's short.)

Trevor Burton (TrevorBurton) As I was born in Manchester, and it the setting for my book, Tangled Roots, I was intrigued to find that there are two books featured on Amazon, with the same cover but with different names as Author. This is indeed a mystery. Can anyone explain? David, I hope you enjoyed Manchester in the 80's. It has changed dramatically since then.

Trevor Burton (TrevorBurton) Sounds like raucous event, best to avoid downtown that day! Have a good one.

Geri Windsor | 7 comments Young Nixon more murder, mystery, espionage & double cross in eve of D-Day France & England than is dreamt of even in the wildest reaches of Hercule Poirot or Sherlock Holmes.Available as e-book or paperback.

Geri Windsor | 7 comments Many thanks David-yes,ONE character later became a real life politician, and several others actually had real lives, but the several murders ARE all big mysteries solved at the end,if that helps. Also the sleuth is VERY original.
