Hi everyone:

It's time to start nominating our next group read's books. Please keep in mind the following:

Books should be chosen from my sai-king-recommends bookshelf at: https://www.goodreads.com/review/list..., unless you have book with a SK blurb I've not added yet. I will need the blurb to add the book to my bookshelf.

Only one nomination per person.

Try to use the book's link in GR.

Pick books that will be easy to obtain through libraries or inexpensive purchase.

I think that's it!

Debra

Larissa | 270 comments The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet looks very interesting to me--it was a best seller a few years ago. The first chapter is a wowza, and I've heard it's one of David Mitchell's most accessible books.

A classic book that is easily available and FREE (because it's in the public domain) is Tess of the D'Urbervilles. I keep running into allusions from that book and I have got to figure out what everybody's talking about! I mean, c'mon, even Fifty Shades alludes to it. Don't discount it just for that reason! ;)

Which one do you want to nominate, Larissa? Both good choices, but you only get to pick one.

Larissa | 270 comments I guess I'll go with the freebie, Tess. :)

Missy | 128 comments Curious about if Church of the Dead Girls was ever suggested when Burn Palace was chosen.

Janice (jamasc) | 801 comments I'll nominate You by Caroline Kepnes. The book blurb creeps me out.

It appears to be readily available. It's rather pricy on Amazon Kindle edition, but I can obtain it through my library or Audible.

Sharon Louise I'd like to nominate The Three. I'd imagine as it's now a year old the initial run of library reservations has probably died down a bit and it should be quite easily available?

The only problem with this book I suppose is that it now has a sequel - is it okay to nominate a book that is now part of a series even if it's Book #1?

I don't think so, Missy.

Sharon, it's fine to nominate book 1 in a series.

The Hunter is Sanae's choice.

Rach (reeniebell) | 17 comments I'm not sure if it's just me being a little dumb right now, but I'm finding some of these books difficult to get hold of; my local libraries don't stock them and even the Amazon ones are shipping from USA. I guess this is because I live in the UK?

It's not dumb at all, Reenie. Many books available here aren't easily available in the UK and visa versa. How much does Amazon charge for shipping from the USA? I hate you not being able to join in on our discussions.

message 13: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I have managed to find them on Amazon UK, just they are around the £8 mark for kindle version (apart from Tess which is 50p) and more for paperback/hardback versions.

I'm going to set up the poll and won't be accepting any more nominations. Thanks!

I'm not too sure about the shipping, it was just the waiting time that put me off. That's really sweet of you to think of me, though!
I'll check the ones from the poll on EBay, they have a lot of stuff on there.

Thanks for checking Sarah, sadly I don't have a kindle; I could never decide on that one, but I'm sure with a bit more searching I'll find the right books! :)

Yeah, eBay is a good source. Just watch out for those shipping charges. Some sellers charge way too much.
