Travel Literature Makes My Heart Beat Faster.. discussion

Hi there. I'm planning an east-to-west hike across Cuba (a follow-up to my latest travel book about a costa-a-costa hike across Spain) and I would love to see any recommendations for good books from that island. Historical background reading and travelogues are always good to know about but I'd love to find novels (either by foreigners or - better still - by Cuban writers) that capture aspects of normal daily life.

I would love a recommendation here too please!
