It’s time for the next Monthly Reading Wrap Up! This Month I Read…
Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison- I love Lovelight Farms so much. It is the place of all my Hallmark Movie dreams. Haha. As usual B.K. Borison sets up an adorable romance surrounded by an adorable town. The fake dating trope was really well done in this one. It was a unique twist on the typical “let’s make others believe we are dating” way this troupe usually goes. Instead they acknowledge to everyone that they aren't really dating, just helping each other see where they are going wrong since neither can make a relationship work. Of course feelings start happening, but I loved the way they would push the limits of their agreement with each other and renegotiate. Caleb and Layla are just such cute characters too. Highly recommend this series!
It Ends with Us by Colleen Hoover- I listened to this on Audio. I’m so-so on this book. Firstly let me just say, I NEVER liked Ryle. Not once. I’m sorry, a guy takes a picture of you the first night you meet and has it framed which you discover when you encounter each other again, finally learning each other's names, and he gets mad that you were weirded out by it? Nope. Red Flags flying everywhere from day 1. This rough start got me a little worried, but I will say it got a little better. I thought the author did a good job of showing the struggles of leaving an abusive relationship, and coming to terms with the fact that someone you love and trust is hurting you so badly thru Lily’s POV. I gave it 3 stars because of that, but I’m not sure I’ll be reading any more Colleen Hoover books.
Heir of Fire by Sara J. Maas- Shew. Okay. This one was a little rough. The first about 500 pages were horrendously slow, feeling like not much was happening. If there was something exciting plot wise it cut to another POV and didn’t resolve it or bring it back until later. In true Sara J. Maas fashion the book picks up the last little bit and throws everything at you then. I’m interested and invested in this story for now, but I’m a little nervous going forward. Mainly because Cealena seems like a completely different character in this book. Her development and arc is interesting to watch but in this book she just felt so different and out of place. We’ll see going forward I guess.
