The 1A Book Club discussion

Hi Goodreads folks! This is Michael, I’m one of the producers on the 1A team.

Our next pick for the 1A Book Club is a classic - Octavia Butler’s 1993 speculative fiction novel "Parable of the Sower".

It’s set in 2024, and imagines a United States facing many of the economic and climate problems that our world has today. It mixes religion, climate change, and post-apocalyptic themes into a story about an empathic teen named Lauren trying to find her way in the world.

We’ll talk about this classic Butler novel, the first of what would become her Parable duology, and what we can learn from is more than 30 years on.

Maybe you’ve read Parable before? Or maybe you're like me, and it’s been on your list for a while and you’ve been meaning to get around to it?

We plan to talk about the book on 1A on Tuesday, October 8th, at 11 a.m. EST. So, quickly approaching, but we promise this is a fast read!
