As I started reading this second book in the duology, I realised that I remember literally nothing of book 1, oops! I didn't think book 1 was that bad - remembered it being mildly enjoyable. And this book ended up being somewhat enjoyable too. Mind that I still don't quite remember what's happened in book 1...
Truthfully, I'd have been happy to DNF around halfway (after peeking at the ending, of course!) but just after that, the big twist happened so I'm kind of glad that I kept reading. I didn't feel that caught out or surprise though; I just thought, of course, it's got to be this way because how else... But it worked well but the particular theme/issue they were facing. [I'm being very vague because spoilers] I appreciated the topics the author is trying to tackle and I do like how these characters developed by the end. Still, I think the book was a little bit too long for my liking.
