Avery Hill is seeing a counselor and they reached the point where he had to be honest about the state of his relationship with Shelby who has now agreed to attend sessions with him. When they meet with the counselor, Shelby learns that Sam resembles his first love. It’s a turning point in their relationship. Is this the end of the Sam fixation? Are they moving on?

The detail that Sam resembles Hill's former girlfriend is so out of left field...

I am so tired of this issue already and really hope this is the end of it. Force needs to stop rehashing these plot threads.

I hope this is the end of Avery's fixation with Sam.

I really hope that Avery is moving on. His fixation on Sam from the beginning was really strange. I would like to see Shelby happy, but I'm going to be skeptical for now.

If this isn't the end of the Avery / Sam / Shelby / Nick arc, I will skip any mention of him in the future.

I didn't buy the former girlfriend look a like explanation. It is ridiculous. He is supposed to be a grown man.
