Cutter or Draven. Both are despicable.

There is something about the magic system that needs tweeking, but I can't put my finger on what it is. I think it seems too expansive, maybe. Also, Sephone is known as the most powerful mem, but I didn't think it was clear as to what made her that powerful.

4. What did you think of the ending? (Spoiler tags, please!)

Well, I am not a fan of cliffhangers, so I HAD to buy the next book, Lumen, right away. Of course.🙃 (I hate paying for books.)

5. What was your overall opinion?

I found this to be a somber read, yet in a poignant way, rather than in a dark way, so I was drawn in by the mood. I loved the characters and their interactions, especially interactions where Cass was involved. I sense a lot of character development coming his way. HIghly recommended!

Draven the man is unhinged!

3. If you could change one part of the book, what would it be? (Spoiler?)
Hmmm, for me I would have enjoyed seeing some of the character’s perspective change. I understand everyone has suffered greatly and hope is low in stock around there, but yeah I’d love to see them grow and have hope for their future (not have such a jaded mentality).

I’m intrigued! Things were getting gooodddd. I need to find out some answers regarding Sephone (keeping it spoiler free but if you know, you know). But luckily my library had the next book, so all will be revealed soon! 🤞

5. What was your overall opinion?
I was skeptical at first only because it had a bleak feel to it and edge of overall sadness, which may be expected since it’s a post apocalyptic world. But it started to grow on me and I’m really rooting for the characters. Now I need them all to have happy endings!

Glad you liked it, Alicia! I found the first one a bit dark too, but, like you said, the characters really drew me in.

Cass! I know he’s got some issues he needs to work through, but he added a good dynamic to the story.

I would’ve liked the plot to be a little more developed. It was pretty basic.

Pretty good. I just wish it hadn’t left it on a cliffhanger.

I enjoyed it! The concept is really cool, and I was invested in the characters. Some of the story’s messages really spoke to me. I’m hoping the next book will devote a bit more time to plot and worldbuilding, because that’s what seemed lacking to me.

Definitely Cass!! I know he wasn’t the greatest guy, but I just loved him sooo muchhh! 😂

About anything being as good as MotR.🤩

But maybe you were just doubting that Of Fire and Ash could compare…

I was doubting Fire and Ash comparing.

When you said this was similar I wanted nothing more than to read it asap because I’ve been longing for more books like MotR.
