Is it worth reading

There’s really nothing not to like about it except for the rants that Dostoyevsky goes on sometimes, I personally enjoy them but a lot of people think they’re tedious and a little annoying to get through. Other than that it’s an amazing book whether you like classics or not. It’s definitely worth reading.

Despite sometimes being very difficult to read and understand, I grew to love how the characters, their philosophies, and the cruel world they live in are depicted. This book will definitely make you think and ponder. I'd recommend it.

I read all of it in one week during summer while in high school. The second half affected me so deeply that I cried while reading the ending. My impression is that it's a very spiritual read, but it should be taken the right way, timing is essential. Definitely not a night read, but perhaps ideal for a summer break, under the sun on the beach :DDD or for an autumn retreat.

yes a good read. McDuff's translation was more difficult to follow but other than that, the novel is good.

i have read this book twice. Once when I was 15, and I recently read it again (I'm now 20). The first time I read it, I couldn't comprehend the main character, his acts and morals made me think that he was annoying and stupid. But recently, I was very shocked how much I could understand the character's way of thinking and where his mental state was at throughout the whole book. In short, I really think you have to be an young adult/adult to read the book and to understand Dostoevsky's writing style and how he talks about mental health in between the lines in the book.

100% it's what got me into classics, it's such a heavy read tho i had to put it down for like 3 months until i finished it but it was so worth it, you're gonna want to read more of dostoevsky's books after u finish it. i highly recommend the brothers karamzov since it's dostoevsky's personal favorive even tho i haven't read it yet lol

One of Dostoyevsky's finest, in my humble opinion. The reader is ingulfed into the lives and moral choices made by the characters, with a thoughtful philosophical argument in cases for/against the decisions they've made. The reader is then left to make their own informed decision about the characters. It really gets you thinking.

super gnarly book, although the beginning can be a little hard to push through, trust me when you push through that, the book becomes hard to let go of

It reads very very strangely, not like most books I've ever read and to the point where I almost did not enjoy it. However, the story is paced very well and is interesting enough to keep you going if you don't like the writing style. There are also a few paragraphs here and there that have really thought-provoking passages. I definitely recommend if you have any interest!

Yes its worth it. It's one of those few books that has a 'before' and 'after' for me. I remember life before Crime & Punishment, I am not the same person. Even my internal monologues hahaha
