nymphaea | 12 comments Hi all! I’m looking for my next fantasy romance read, but I really don’t know what to read. I enjoy reading about darker topics, I prefer if the book doesn’t solely revolve around smut, and I like mysteries and suspense!!
Can you help me? 🥹

Anilë🌙 | 78 comments “Hi Nymphaea! If you’re looking for fantasy romance with darker themes, mysteries, and suspense but without being too smut-heavy, here are a few recommendations:
1. ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ by Sarah J. Maas
This series is popular for its blend of dark fantasy, romance, and suspense, with a rich world and intriguing characters.
2. ‘Daughter of Smoke and Bone’ by Laini Taylor
A beautifully written book about forbidden love, angels, and demons, with plenty of mystery and a darker edge.
3. ‘Kingdom of the Wicked’ by Kerri Maniscalco
A dark and atmospheric story involving witches, demons, and an irresistible slow-burn romance with plenty of twists.
4. ‘The Shadows Between Us’ by Tricia Levenseller
A fast-paced standalone about ambition, power, and an unconventional romance with a touch of suspense.
5. ‘Serpent & Dove’ by Shelby Mahurin
This series combines dark magic, a morally gray romance, and suspenseful twists.

Let me know if you’ve read any of these or need more suggestions!”

amelie (taylor’s version) | 36 comments Caraval!!!

soph ₊˚ෆ (joey's version) 🍉 (depresso_dorogaya) | 25 comments Some of my favorite fantasy/romance books-
1) Caraval by Stephanie Garber
2) Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi (a bit more dystopian than fantasy, but it's still a really good series!)
3) The Trials of Apollo by Rick Riordan

If you want shorter series/duologies-
1) Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (duology)
2) The Art of Tea Duology by Judy I Lin
3) Letters of Enchantment Duology by Rebecca Ross
4) Gilded Duology by Marissa Meyer
5) Down Comes the Night by Allison Saft (standalone)

I have more, but these are just a few off the top of my head. These are all fairly popular books, so I know it's not just me who likes them lol. Happy reading! <3

totoro (semi-ia) ౨ৎ˚⟡ I’d definitely second Six of Crows!! No smut, dark vibes, and the sweetest romances. Legendary fandom as well!

lola | 15 comments okay so this might be quite generic but at this given moment I can’t stop reading fourth wing. it’s just splendid and if you like fantasy, enemies to lovers, romance, some smut (not a lot though), it’s sort of reminds me of divergent a bit but better. it also has two following books in the series (a third one realising soon hopefully) you would be able to read but you don’t have to since the book also works on its own. just my recommendation hope it helps:)

Keets | 12 comments I'd recommend The Witchwood Knot ,it's got a blend of romantasy with a gothic vibe, and no spice.
