When Sam goes to the hospital to check on the twins, she takes one look at them and immediately volunteers to take them home, explaining that she and Nick are licensed foster parents. Was this instinct, a maternal pull, a practical decision given what happened to their parents or a combination of it all? Your thoughts?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments They called to her heart and I'm glad that Sam listened. Nick is a wonderful person to take this on at this time.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think it was more maternal instinct than anything. Sam sees kids that need her help. Their parents have been killed and she knows that she and Nick can make a home for them until custody of the children is figured out. I think this was her primary concern. Being a cop investigating the murder of their parents was secondary. I'm sure it was a lot easier questioning them at her home than bringing them to the station or visiting a foster home to ask questions.
