The world between heaven and hell was a neutral playground. Demons could come up from their rings to cause chaos, and angels could descend to attempt to reform mortals to the path of righteousness.

Aspen was one of those demons who preferred to cause as much chaos as possible. Being from the ring of lust and aboding in the ring of wrath, he loved to get mortals riled up and into fights.

Aspen had been lingering behind a bar, his hellish appearance hidden behind a mortal form as he held his fists up. He’d gotten into a bar fight after apparently ‘flirting’ with someone’s partner. “Come on, you don’t wanna disappoint that dear partner of yours..” He said with a sly smirk.

Viviana had been an angel of her own words, knowing nonetheless of what was wrong and right. Coming from her own father, she was always told "You need to do this right," "You need to do this" but she was stubborn.

One day she found herself walking into a random bar, unbeknowest of how she got there. She saw him, out of nowhere, he was there. She could've sworn she knew him and that she remembered him but at the same time she didn't.

(*cough*) 👀

When the other man swung his fists, he laughed, dodging out of the way and hitting him with a quick swing. "Come on man! I thought you had more than that in you.." He was egging the man on, wanting him to fight back. Aspen kept dodging each drunken swing from the man.

She blinked, not knowing whether to believe her eyes. She knew she'd saw him before she just didn't know why then someone threw a punch at him. She didn't know whether to let it happen or to intervene so she quickly made way to where people had started gathering.

The pair continued to exchange quick blows, the man's being slow and uncoordinated, while Aspen's were quick and more playful. He was basically just playing with him now. He was aware of the small crowd starting to gather, but it didn't bother him. More of a reason to show off.

As she pushed through the crowd to see what was going on, she noticed the two men fighting. Yet, she found herself not caring at all what was happening but who she saw.

The fight had began getting heated, well, the man was anyways. Aspen was having the time of his life embarrassing him. It was only when one of the security guards came along and stopped it that it actually ended and the crowd dispersed, much to his annoyance.

She patiently stood there waiting until the crowd dispersed completely until she finally shook her head and dropped it. She didn't even know why she walked in here, how could she remember anything? Wait, what was she doing in here? She facepalmed herself, she didn't know what to do. Her feet stayed glued to the floor, meanwhile her eyes fell upon him again. She was grateful for once that she was unnoticeable.

He sighed, running his hands through his dirty blonde hair. Why did things just have to die down the second he was starting to have fun. Despite the situation, an odd aura filled the space, one he knew all too well. Angelic abilities. It made him look around for a moment, looking for whoever could have been emitting the aura.

She noticed him looking around abruptly, her feet still glued to the floor. Perhaps he was just looking for another victim. Before she realized, it was too late. His eyes fell upon her. She looked away quickly.

His eyes narrowed as he could feel the sickening warmth of angelic ability weakening his own abilities. He scowled as he walked towards her. “What’s an angel doing in devil territory, hm?” he said as he leaned down, his breath almost cold against her shoulder.
