Israel: A History by Martin Gilbert
I'm starting to dedicate much more time to expanding the non-fiction section of my library, beginning with one of the pre-eminent historians of the 20th century, Sir Martin Gilbert.
Gilbert's work exemplifies the kind of literary history that the under existential threat by the frightening ubiquity of AI and the unrelenting, endless distraction of social media.
It's not going to be enough, for the future, merely to have such books on a Kindle or stored in a memory stick. The hard copies will be mandatory, if only as evidence of what came before.
