Few topics are more important to the lover of the short science fiction work than the magazine that publishes them.
Today there are a number of obscure eZines, publishing hand to mouth in electronic format, here today, gone tomorrow. We're interested in those, of course.
But, also, there were your long time ago classics that are no longer printing. Yes, we need to know about those too. And you should create a topic in this folder for them.
But right now, I am interested in current venues still publishing our beloved short stuff in science fiction. Be it in magazine (rare), or in an e-format (more common now), we all should know so that we can read it and support it.
This folder is thus hereby created in order to keep our membership up on the SF periodical, both past, but especially present.
Thanks for starting this folder. It's so important to keep track of these periodicals and support them. Many authors got their start in this format, and I'm always pleasantly surprised by new imaginations from first-time and practiced authors, many of whom are new to me. While it's easy to celebrate classic authors and much-talked about authors, I love discovering hidden gems in these periodicals, often from new voices. I'm currently working my way through the Clarkesworld 2024 Finalists. The novella "Fractal Karma" was a joy to read from an author I have never heard of before. I'm also very much enjoying the modern feel to these recent stories (though I still love the classics and continue to search them out). Thanks again for this forum, Dan.
