I think I'm going to need a playlist while we read this book! :-)
And I'm serious. If I can't fall in love with Jason half as much as I loved Brandon, I'm going to write Ms. Jimenez another letter. :-)

It's reads pretty quick. I have the paperback, and I thought that would be slower than audio, but I'm not sure anymore. :-) I'm about 1/3 of the way through...and the weekend is here! More reading!

Are you a Abby Jimenez convert yet?? lol

Yes, I like her books. I am going to finish up this series next month and read Life’s Too Short. I would really love these books if there wasn't always such trauma involved until the last two chapters when everything miraculously ties itself up in a bow. But, you can't have everything and sometimes what the characters say have me laughing out loud. I did listen to all the music on this one also.

Lola better not mess things up."
I loved Tucker too! Did you listen to the music as you read? I did try, but couldn't keep it up with every chapter. I did listen to all the songs by the end.

When are we reading the next book?? 😍

I am planning to read the next book next month. Maybe the middle of April? And then I'm starting my next Jimenez series, the Part of Your World books. :-)

Will you post a link to that book discussion here? My book is coming the 2nd week of April. Excited to finish this series.

Yay!!! I am glad you got it! How is it coming along?

Yes! Me too! And I'm going to start another series by her also! Fully on board!

It’s going great! I finished it this morning!!! 😂😂
I listened to it pretty much all day on Sunday and just had about 2 hrs left that I finished this morning.
And of course I loved it!!!!

Yes, here's her review of the book! Link here

I’m excited to read book 3 whenever I get the book! 😬

THANK you, Linda, for mentioning that you thought Kristen was slightly different in Sloan's book. I must be an aspiring continuity editor, because I frequently notice differences in the same book or in sequels and it makes me a little crazy. I try not to mention it too much, though, because I feel like I'm the only one who notices, and I don't want to ruin other people's enjoyment of the book. I sometimes feel like I'm the only one, so it makes me feel happy that you saw some of that too! :-) :-) :-)

😂😂
You are so welcome!!!!! But, that’s what buddy reads are for, to discuss the things you notice. Others may not notice, and that’s okay!

This one part, when Jason and Sloan were at Kristen and Josh’s house for dinner, and they did that Doritos bag thing, I was like, no way!!! This was not in The Friend Zone, which, I get, since the first book was technically written after the third book and Abby probably had no intention s on needing the first book. But I didn’t like it.
To me, Kristen sounded meaner, if that makes sense. Granted, she was very protective of Sloan, which she should be, and I can’t put my finger on any particular thing, but she was just mean. Kristen loved Brandon as well and I know she wanted the absolute best for Sloan, especially with her not being alone, but her insistence on telling Sloan to climb him like a tree didn’t sound like Kristen to me.
What I absolutely loved, was once Jason and Sloan got married and they were coming off the road, I loved that the two families were going to live next to each other and raise their kids together, I’m glad Abby made that part work out in book 2. Overall I loved both books and I’m not really mad about it, I could just tell the differences.

I agree with you, Linda. One thing that seems different in The Friend Zone and The Happy Ever After Playlist is Kristen's relationship to Brandon. She doesn't really know him well in The Friend Zone - I think to set up her meet cute with Josh, and the fact that she didn't know much about her bestie's man's bestie. But in The Happy Ever After Playlist, while Kristen is helping Sloan through her sadness, she talks as though she is missing Brandon too. I could go through both books and highlight all the differences, but I think it would just subtract from everyone's enjoyment of these books, including my own. Continuity differences are best forgotten. :-)

Here is the second book in the series for our comments.
Two years after losing her fiancé, Sloan Monroe still can't seem to get her life back on track. But one trouble-making pup with a "take me home" look in his eyes is about to change everything. With her new pet by her side, Sloan finally starts to feel more like herself. Then, after weeks of unanswered texts, Tucker's owner reaches out. He's a musician on tour in Australia. And bottom line: He wants Tucker back.
Well, Sloan's not about to give up her dog without a fight. As their flirty texts turn into long calls, Sloan can't deny a connection. There's no telling what could happen when they meet in person. The question is: With his music career on the rise, how long will Jason really stick around? And is it possible for Sloan to survive another heartbreak?
