Time to Vote for the March Tag

Thank you for the early deadline and result!! I don’t have a clue which way this is going to go, so I can’t get a head start on adding books to my holds list. My vote will likely be based on what I already have waiting for me.
The extra planning time is very much appreciated.

Here is the link for sci-fi-fantasy. It has twice as many books in the list. Different spellings, abbreviations might show different lists.

They both default to the same genre page, which shows new releases and listopias

We need the exact same tag for the bonus points in Compass, but otherwise it’s up to our own discretion. I would use them interchangeably, but I’m curious if others view them differently.

In my heart I am hoping for one, but the one, I like least I have a surprising number of books I want to read and would be happy reading.

Thriller is a weird category. I don't like most actual thrillers, especially if they have serial killers, women and children in danger, extreme cruelty. But I see many mysteries (which I do like) in the list, for instance a lot of Agatha Christie and The Thursday Murder Club, which is more of a cozy. Sure, there are nasty bad guys but they are always defanged by the soft-spoken wiles of the charming old folks.

The ballot shows 4 options - one place says Option 4 and one says Other. I suppose you used a template with 4 options. If we could suggest others, voting would get really crazy!

I am going to ignore any choices that don’t conform to one of the three tags. I am at the airport so will try to fix on my phone, but not sure I can.

I think Anita will have to rule on whether these are interchangeable. We only get to see the first 25 pages and there are tons more on either page. But in the past for tag of the month this has been rather loose. So I'm thinking they both might work.

I'm glad your new job is so much better than your old one :)

Thank you! Just not being yelled at by bosses or having them stand over me beating on their chests in front of my students......the little things matter and took a toll.

This!!!
Thank you, Kate, for responding. It's only for games/challenges where we are sticklers.

Yes, I've heard the saying that people don't quit their job as often as they quit their boss - or administration, management, etc. Good for you!

So true. Since a misanthrope was promoted to library director, no fewer than 8 full time employees have left our library as a direct result of her plus her best-friend-the-assistant-director in less than three years. Some are only staying until they are vested for retirement benefits (you have to work there x number of years.) I know this from talking with librarians there I've known for some time now. They don't tell her, just say they have better opportunities.
She has stopped pairs of librarians sitting at the front desk (which was ALWAYS the policy--why should they develop good employee camaraderie>) If a patron is chatting with a desk person for more than a couple of minutes after the transaction is done, even if there is no one is in line she comes out to interrupt assign a task. The librarians are good at moving on to the next person in line, too. Yes, she spends her time watching them, and they hate it--some have been there decades and they only spend an hour a day on the desk.
There is nothing warm and fuzzy about her or her friend--he's just as bad.

I hope this is for a well-deserved holiday!

Where are you planning to go in this fair sunburnt country?

I have many trips planned this year!
France, Australia, and Seattle are my actual vacations. And then I am doing remote work from the beach for a week and from Copenhagen for a week. I am also fitting in a long weekend in Montreal for my first ever F1 race.
This will be a busy year! But I am excited!
