Josie finally gets to meet with Jack Starkey, the ATF agent Gretchen used as a reference on her resume. He reveals that Gretchen was married to Billy Lowther who was murdered by the Soul Mate Strangler. He had worked undercover and infiltrated the Devil’s Blade outlaw bikers who later abducted Gretchen, holding her for a year. Given that she had obsessively worked the leader’s murder case, what did you make of all this in the moment?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments My impression of Jack Starkey was that he was a burned-out piece of work. But he provided Josie with invaluable information about Gretchen's past. I had suspicions about the abduction story given how hard she worked to convict Linc's killers. I thought there was more to the story.

Anita, ditto to every single thing you said. Jack was a mess but the info was vital. It was about now that I started thinking that missing student was related to her.
