Gretchen actually had twins, which explains how Ethan connected with Professor Larson and how Josie figured that out. Ethan and James came up with the idea to reunite O’Hara, the Soul Mate Strangler who he’d discovered, with Gretchen, thinking she’d arrest him. James went in Ethan’s place and realized his mistake too late. Why do you think they’d take such risks with a dangerous serial killer? Had you imagined Gretchen had twins before she revealed it?

I could not buy how stupid the idea of reuniting Gretchen and O'Hara was. I call a plot foul. Ethan and James were smart kids; they could not have been that stupid. That Gretchen had twins was a surprise to me. I thought James was helping Ethan find his parents because they were such great friends. Now Ethan has to live with the fact that he got his best friend killed.

That was the stupidest plan ever and it got James killed. He knew it was wrong as soon as Gretchen arrived. Why in the world do amateurs think they can approach dangerous people???
