Pages: 359 pages

Length: 1 month (April)

Participants: Luci, D.L., Beth, Cordelia, juls

Everyone reads at their own pace during a Buddy Read. Because participants can be at different parts of the book at different times, it is extremely important to mark spoilers so that the book is not ruined for someone who is not as far along as others!!!

Mark spoilers by placing {spoiler} before the text and {/spoiler} after the text but use the < and > instead of the { and }.

Here are some questions to help get the conversation started! Feel free to look up discussion questions specific to this book or come up with your own. Just make sure any questions that contain spoilers are under spoiler tags.
Discussion questions are not required but may be a fun way to talk about the book and get to know each other!

Prior to starting:
What prompted you to join this buddy read?
Have you read this author before? What do you think of their other books?

Mid-read:
What character or ideas do you relate to the most and why?
Do you have any favorite quotes or scenes?

After reading:
What was enjoyable or not-so-enjoyable about this book?
Did this book change your perception about anything, either within the book (character development) or in real life?

Luci Limón (lucilimon) | 245 comments I'm planning on starting it maybe this or next week. This will be a re read for me, as I read it eons ago and I LOVED it! I hope I find new aspects on my second read and honestly, I hope to enjoy the characters as much as I did the first time :)

liv bellanco | 1 comments I’m so excited for this buddy read, I’m catching up on/re reading classics in between books. This one is a great relevant choice with the production starting!

Claire | 11 comments Hi everyone! I’d love to join in on the discussion. I first started reading Wuthering Heights during a trip to the UK in 2017 after visiting Haworth, walking the moors, and exploring some of the locations mentioned in the book. Unfortunately, I never finished it, so I’m excited for the chance to start again. Over the years, I’ve watched a few different film adaptations, but I’m looking forward to finally reading the full book.

Tyna DV (tynadv) | 1 comments What a drama! I passed page 100 and it’s getting better every page. First time reading Emily but I read her sister. What a difference 😃

message 6: by Beth (last edited Apr 30, 2025 06:51AM) (new) - rated it 2 stars

Beth | 1560 comments I started this on Monday, using both a digital copy and an audiobook read by Joanne Froggat (the actress who playes John Bates's wife in Downtown Abbey). The narration was amazing!

I've never read Emily before, either, and yes what a difference from Charlotte! I really didn't care for this book, while Jane Eyre is one of my all-time favorites. I didn't care about the characters, I didn't like any of their motivations, I hated the lack of communication between everyone which was the main reason for all the angst in the story. Just ugh. Maybe I would have enjoyed this if I'd read it as a younger person.

I didn't realize there were so many movie adaptations (https://www.imdb.com/list/ls057001976/) of this novel! The one I had known about previously was the 1939 version with Laurence Olivier and Merle Oberon (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032145/...). I haven't watched any of them but may do so now. Maybe a movie adaptation will make the movie more interesting??

Beth | 1560 comments I hate these people, even the movie version of them. Blergh.

Cordelia (anne21) | 107 comments I found this really complicated - so many characters

message 11: by Karin (last edited May 09, 2025 11:12AM) (new) - rated it 2 stars

Karin | 228 comments Now that this is done I'll say that I loathed this book as a teen when I was most open to this sort of book which is why I opted to not reread it. That said, it's a classic for a reason which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of only 1, although I've given 1 stars to classics before.
