We don't frequently talk about journalism as a type of literature, but breaking stories, distilling complex issues into interesting and understandable language, and covering a quickly changing world require some pretty amazing writing skills. Who do you think are some of the greatest print/online/written journalists working today?

Lark Benobi (larkbenobi) | 730 comments John Carreyrou came to mind right away, for his extraordinary writing and reportage about Theranos.

Actually a number of 20th century journalists came to mind first which made me sad because I don’t think great investigative journalism is financially viable any longer, and the days of long literary stories being of interest to our sound-bite-trained attention spans has maybe come to an end.

Alwynne | 239 comments I quite like writers like Hilton Als, various New Yorker writers, and iconic figures like Janet Malcolm. On an everyday basis then writers/commentators like Owen Jones, John Harris, Ash Sarkar, Masha Gessen, Rebecca Solnit, Grace Blakeley and Andrea Long Chu.
