Winter (winter9) | 4998 comments Hi everyone!

Time to nominate books for June! The theme is Sisterhood.

~Please remember to state a connection to the theme when you nominate.

~Books we have read less than three years ago are not eligible. To see which books are not eligble, see this google sheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

~ Each person can nominate 1 book.

~ Book must be available both as a physical copy and as an ebook.

~ Authors: Please do not nominate your own book.

~ Please do not nominate books that are part of a series, unless it is the first book.

~ You can second someone else's nomination, but that will count as your nomination.

This thread will be closed by April 25th, and we will choose ten books for the poll. If there are more than ten books nominated, we will choose "seconded" books first. If there is still a tie to get into the top ten, we'll go back to the Goodreads average rating to see which is highest.

Susan | 581 comments I would like to nominate Little Women, a classic novel about three sisters.

message 3: by Jill (new)

Jill | 30 comments I second Little Women.

message 4: by Keri (new)

Keri Sparks | 631 comments I would like to nominate Wildwood Dancing. Perhaps not the first book one would think of for sisterhood, but there is a lot of sisterhood relationship going on throughout the book, particularly between the second oldest and the oldest while both struggle to make their own paths in life/love and ignoring the wise advice of each other yet learning to trust each other's decisions.

message 6: by Amitha (new)

Amitha | 33 comments I would like to nominate The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo which explores the complex and often fraught relationships between the four sisters, highlighting both their shared experiences and the rivalries that emerge over time.

message 7: by TerryJane, Challenges (new)

TerryJane | 4026 comments The Sirens by Emilia Hart

I nominate The Sirens by Emilia Hart. It is a Good Morning America book club pick with fantasy, historical fiction, magical realism, and mystery elements. The connection is in the blurb:

A breathtaking tale of female resilience, The Sirens is an extraordinary novel that captures the sheer power of sisterhood and the indefinable magic of the sea.

message 8: by Gina Marie (new)

Gina Marie | 81 comments I would like to nominate The Secret Lives of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. It's the story of a young girl living in South Carolina in the 1960s who escapes from her abusive father with a black woman who has been like a substitute mother. They are taken in by an eccentric trio of black beekeeping sisters.

I second this one. It sounds like something I would read on my own.

Another good one! I would love to re-read that one too!

D.L. | 1515 comments It will be summertime and this prompt just screams The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants by Ann Brashares to me. It's a great YA novel.
