The case opens up when Cameron learns that Mandi is not only leaving town for the Cayman Islands, she’s made several trips there. Were you familiar with the Cayman Islands being the primary country used to hide finances? Did you believe Mandi when she implicated her brother? Was it ever plausible to you that Ginny perpetrated such a massive scheme without her husband’s knowledge?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments The Cayman Islands is known as a place to stash money, in fiction at least. At first, I did think he had something to do with it. We hadn't been introduced to him before, and no real suspect had emerged. I found it very hard to believe that Ginny's husband didn't know anything shady was going on. Willful blindness, I guess.

I used to work for a public accounting firm when I lived in New York and my first assignment was Chemical Bank (now Chase) and their investment activity. They had an office in Nassau and I thought I was on my way until they explained the tax shelter nature (Cayman Islands, too). I audited it from my desk in Manhattan😏 It’s a real thing.

I just couldn’t understand how Ken didn’t know anything about it. I was buying Mandi’s nonsense at first but as she went on, it rang false. Can’t believe the fool tried to hang her brother.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments Mandi throwing her brother under was despicable.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments The Caymans appear frequently on true crime shows and in fiction. I didn't believe that Ginny's husband was in the dark about her scheme. However, some spouses are clueless.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments The Caymans are a well known locale for hiding money - no surprise there.

My understanding of it was that Ken Sr did not know about Ginny's scheme, but once he found out, he wanted the money. That's why he killed her.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I've read a lot of books and new articles about money being hidden in the Cayman Islands.

I was suspicious of the husband. How could he not know something was going on. Where was all the glitzy lifestyle coming from? I bought into the kids not having anything to do with their parents. It wasn't until they were fleeing the country that I became suspicious.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2973 comments As with all these Ponzi type crimes, I always wondered just what these people thought was going to happen. Did they expect to fool everyone forever? What was their end game? Did they have an exit planned? How did they expect their scheme to end?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Most of these greedy criminals think they are smarter than everyone else and they will get away with their schemes forever.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments They aren’t thinking of long term consequences only the immediate gratification of taking the money and even fooling people. They are complete narcissists and sociopaths .
