Jane (PS) | 24334 comments 1. Introduce yourself to your team. Let your team members know where you are from. This is a 'nice to know' when categories are announced and when team-mates can expect other members to post their book choices.

2. Wedding Planner (Captain) - reserve a couple of posts in this thread tracking your team's book selection and completion. (Alternatively they could convert a chat comment to the tracking post/s.)

3. Name your team. Using this round's theme, come up with a fun name. Given we are an open/public group with no age limit, so please make sure any chosen name is smart, not smutty ;)

Please PM your name to Jane(PS) by 16 April

4. If you have a private profile, please 'friend' your team-mates. This is really important, because without this, your team-mates can't see your shelves to select a books under option 2. (It will also help with one of the categories in this round!)

5. Please post your book selections/completions in the format provided below. (This format is also posted in both the Q&A and Sign-Up threads.) We need to know the week that each book corresponds to, the page numbers, and how the book qualifies including links to lists/shelves (where applicable), etc. I can't stress this enough. When in doubt - link it*!

* don't link to your review in your completion post - reviews in your completion posts should be included in full in that post.

You don't want to start reading a book and then find it doesn't meet the requirements because some information (eg page count or theme link) was missing from your original post.

I will be monitoring this and your book will not be considered complete until I am satisfied that your selection and completion posts comply with the format rules of the challenge.

Remember - you can ONLY change your book selection in the week that the theme is called.

6. You MUST check in with your team each week, ideally once the theme is announced. Please let your team know if you expect to have spotty communication or are on holidays or having an operation, etc.

7. When you post the completion of your book, you must post a review; enough for us to know you have actually read the book. Please don't link to a review. You must post the review in this thread.

8. Re-reads are allowed but you can't read the same book twice within this challenge.

9. There is no prize for the winning team - bragging rights only :)

10. Each week, the theme will be announced in the Q&A/Calls thread. The full list of themes announced during this round will be maintained in msg 1 of that thread.

The Rule on the Pass Option
* Each team can only have ONE member using their pass each week.
* Each member can only use that pass once each 5 weeks.
* This means that one or two team members (dependent upon the size of your team) will miss using a pass in each 5 week block.
* No-one can use the pass option in the last week of the challenge.
* In the final week Option 2 has altered and I will be allocating each team another team from which their book selection must be chosen :)

For selection post Option 2 you must have:

Name of the team-member, their star rating, the date they read the book.

For selection post Option 3 you must have:
Week #
PASS

For the completion post you must have:
Week #
Bookcover/link
Rating (1-5)
Review

Please DO NOT CHAT in these selction/completion posts. It needs to be super clear.

If you 'waffle' about your decided book - please REPOST your selection once you decide. DO NOT go back and edit your waffling post.

IF YOU NEED TO CORRECT A POST FOR MISSING INFORMATION or because the didn't qualify etc, please REPOST this information in a NEW post, particularly when the request is more than a day old. Its difficult to find older posts when going backwards in the threads.

Option 1
4. Music is played ~ before, during or after
Read a book with an MC who is a musician or music composer/lyricist. Not a poet.

Qualification must be found on Goodreads and come from the book's main page, a list or shelf/tag.

Tags such as music, musician, singer, composer, rockstar will work. These tags MUST be in context. The tag 'artist' will not work on its own. Combo tags such as 'arts-music-writing' or 'rockstar-actor- famous' will not work as they are too broad.
Please ask in the Q&A if you aren't sure or if the qualification is borderline.

To insert links in your posts, please read these instructions in the Q&A thread:
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

Option 2
Key date: 27 December 2024
Member has read on or after this date and rated at least 3 stars

If you use this option, this week you must select your book from the team shelves immediately below your team in this list. The last team picks from the first team.

3 - Wedding Between the Lines
9 - The TBR-idesmaids
12 - I Do Crew
8 - We Do Take Thee Trope
4 - Aisle Be There For You
10 - Storybook Soulmates
11 - Maids of Dishonour
5 - You May Kiss The Book
6 - The Book Affair
1 - Novel Nuptials
7 - Kiss The Miss Goodbye
2 - Til the Last Page Do We Part

Eg. Team 3 picks from team 9's members bookshelves. Team 2 picks from team 3's members bookshelves.

DO NOT PICK from a team member who has left the team during the game. Picks must come from current members. If you aren't sure if they are current, please check on the spreadsheet that is linked in the first message of this thread.

Diane Dannenfeldt | 815 comments Hey all, welcome to another round of PTP. I'm Diane and I live in Northeast Ohio, eastern standard time, with my husband of 38 years. I am a mother of 2 and a grandmother of 2 grandsons. I am a fur grandmother to a very spoiled male cat named Skyler. During the day, and while I work on my diamond paintings, I listen to audio books. At the end of the day I love to read. I read mostly MM books of all kinds, but really I will read most anything except for historical; not a big fan of having to hide your love. I don't really care for YA where they are still in high school. But there are always exceptions.

First order of business, please introduce yourselves. Secondly, we have to come up with a name. I'm really horrible at this so I'm counting on y'all's input. Just remember it has to be something related to "weddings".

Reading Booth
Reading Party
Books and Bouquets
Rings and Reading
All Together Vow
Ring It On
I Do Crew
Two Less Fish in the Sea

Please note in msg 3 above how Jane wants the layouts of the selection & completion posts. Please make sure you follow that. Also, please do not put both your selection & completion posts in the same posting. We have to submit our name by April 16, with the first call on April 18.

If this is your first round of PTP, please read Jane's rules very carefully, they are listed on the sign-up page. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

I will list each weeks theme in msg 4. If for some reason I am not around when the theme is called, please note it in a post & I will add it when I do get on.

Most importantly, lets all have some fun & maybe we will find more books to add to our ever growing tbr shelves!

Berit☀️✨ (berittalksbooks) | 497 comments Hello all! I live in Southern California, Pacific time. I am a single mom of three adult children and one grandson who was born in December. I also have two cats and two dogs. I am back in grad school right now to be a marriage family therapist, so I have a busy life. I will read just about anything, but like you Diane I'm not a big fan of historical romance.

It might be that you read the full book and had a horrid 100pp within the book Danielle, but I will just post the way that you need to handle a book that wasn't completed in case you actually DNFd the book:

Q: Can I DNF a book?
To DNF a book you must have:
* read at least 50% of the book
* the minimum page requirement of 100 pages must have been read in addition to having completed 50% (that is, if the book is only 105pp in total, you will need to have read through to and including page 100. If the book is 400pp, you need to read 200pp before you DNF the book.)
* note in your review that it was a DNF and explain why
* rate accordingly (no higher than 2 stars) and shelve the book as DNF
* in the 'completion post', you will need to note the pages read out of the total pages.

If it is a current week book, you can of course change the book. Once we have rolled into the next call, your book selection is set and cannot be altered.

Sorry it was so dreadful! Cheers :)

Week #1: Option 1: Read a book with a cover model in a suit or a flowing/formal dress.
Bookcover/link: The Haunted Hotel by Vawn Cassidy
Completion Date: 4/24
Rating: 4
Review: The is can be read as a standalone, I would really recommend reading the 1st 4 books in the author’s Crawshanks Guide to the Recently Departed series as we meet Ellis, the crew of the hotel & the ghosts in that book. In that book I had noted that I would love to have a series surrounding this hotel & the ghosts & was so excited when the author did indeed write this. So the book begins shortly after that book ends. Ellis is a sweet, do anything for you quick with a smile type of guy. He is also accident prone. Morgan, took me a little longer to warm up to, but I got there. He is a workaholic and a no nonsense type of guy. When he shows up to see his grandfather, who is the owner of the hotel, he is meet with the shenanigans that goes on, especially from the ghost. He is not a believer, but it doesn't take him long to get on board. I can't wait for more.

Megan Quinn is a master of creating the most memorable characters. I absolutely adored the fake relationship trope in this book, and it was executed flawlessly. The witty banter, wedding vibes, and tropical vacation setting made it a perfect blend of my favorite romance elements. Despite a challenging year for me in terms of finding enjoyable romances, I’m so glad I picked this one up. I can’t wait to dive into the other books in this series because the secondary characters were absolutely fantastic. And the audiobook narration was top-notch, with a spicy twist that added an extra layer of excitement. 💍🔥🌴

Booklink: Roman: Destined Paranormals Book Seven by Taylor Rylan
Completion date: 4/26
Rating: 4 stars
Review: Poor Roman, I felt so bad with him. He was lonely after his twins brothers Phineas and Philip were all grown and found their mates. He doesn't want bother them so he has kind of isolated himself. It is clear that he is lonely and he doesn't find pleasure with things like he once did. He agrees to as he was lonely and was feeling depressed after his twin brothers grew up and found their mates. He has kind of put himself in isolation trying to stay out of their way. But when he agrees to head back up the mountain to attend the reopening of the bakery, he finds someone that he didn't think he would ever find, his mate.

Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher

Rating: 4 Stars

Review:
Took me probably 50 pages to get into this, but I quite enjoyed it. It's very fairytale-esk and I do love an older heroine even if she's a tad unworldly. Learning new things about yourself and the world at 30 is not a bad thing
