Beth | 1553 comments This was so-so for me. I didn't really care much about any of these people... selfish and self-centered. I felt a lot of empathy for Bebe, of course.

The biggest thing is that I think my expectations about this book were not met. I didn't realize it was going to be such a slow-burn character study; I was expecting more interesting action/plot.

I do think I'd like to watch the Hulu miniseries... Kerry Washington as Mia seems like a great casting choice.

LinaVer | 447 comments Sorry to hear you didn’t fully enjoy this one, Beth!
I am not re-reading it this month because it’s still pretty fresh in my mind from last year. But I remember I had similar expectations before reading and was surprised (not really disappointed) in a similar way to you. The author does write the characters pretty well though.
I didn’t know that there was a series based on it, and now I’m curious to watch it because I found the book very visual (not sure of a better word). I wonder if the series does it justice.

Amitha | 33 comments I finished this book today and this was my first time reading this author. It was an easy read. I found the ending to be flat and expected more emotional impact.
