Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 19215 comments Hello fellow librarians,

You may also have noticed that a certain Polish member (a publishing group?) continues submitting requests to add more than one book at a time. Today again there are two new requests, both for 7 books...

Time and time again librarians have made directions to the guidelines and asked to split up the request into separate new requests, but this member does not seem to understand and ignores our instructions or is unwilling to comply.

Personally I'm pretty fed up with this behaviour and I tend to just close the present topics due to not complying with the guidelines.

Would this be rude and too rigorous? I'd love to see your opinion.

Dobby (dobby0390) | 7857 comments I support this as well. Have you flagged any of these multiple-book requests? That might be a good two-pronged approach.

Scott | 8535 comments What about people who think everything is adding new books?

No Dobby, thus far I have not done so.
But now I followed your suggestion and flagged both requests with the comment:

"Member persists in submitting requests for adding >1 book at a time, and continues to ignore librarians' instructions to comply with the guidelines, which clearly indicate to request for a single book add."

I agree that's a nuisance too ;)

Emmy de Reus (nyneve) | 19215 comments Last couple of days I spotted multiple book requests from this member again... :-(
I flagged and closed them, but am curious what happens with these reported 'flags'.

The only response I seem to get from staff is a standard reply Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We're reviewing the content you reported and will take appropriate action. Thank you for being a Goodreads member"" without even specifying to which reported flag this is a reaction.

Judging by the fact that I started flagging these requests already End April, we're now alsmost halfway June and this member is still submitting these kind of requests, it seems to have little to no effect...

Attn Jaclyn added to topic title.

Hi Emmy. Sorry for the slow reply here - as you maybe saw I communicated with the member on a request in June. It looks like they've taken note.

Flagging is the best way to report this behaviour. These get escalated to the correct teams (in some cases, that's me 😊)
