Let’s set the stage for our May 2025 read! This is the place for any pre-reading discussion about All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, our Remembering and Honoring pick.

~~~~~
One by one the boys begin to fall…
In 1914 a room full of German schoolboys, fresh-faced and idealistic, are goaded by their schoolmaster to troop off to the ‘glorious war’. With the fire and patriotism of youth they sign up. What follows is the moving story of a young ‘unknown soldier’ experiencing the horror and disillusionment of life in the trenches.
Julie Grindal (julesgrin) | 149 comments While I want to read each selection of the club, this type of book is too intense for me. I discuss the selections of the club with my husband and told him this was up next for me. He pulled back and said, “that book will trigger you. It is intense in the trenches action. I don’t think you will like it or enjoy it. At all.” He knows me well and my aversion to movies that have war related fighting.
With all that being said, I’m going to pass on this selection.
