Hello Cozy Book Nook! I wanted to invite you all to join our Fun In The Sun Reading Challenge! We have made some changes so please when you sign up, it would be a good idea to read everything so everyone is on the same page. Of course feel free to ask questions and we encourage you all to have fun!

There will be a total of 3 teams: Team Bali, Team Bora Bora, Team Tokyo, Japan.

⏲️START & FINISH DATES⏲️

This reading challenge will be a total of 7 weeks, and it will START on Monday June 23rd, 2025 and will END on Monday August 11th, 2025. (According to your time zone, ALL BOOKS need to be logged by MIDNIGHT of August, 11th, 2025. ANY BOOKS LOGGED AFTER MIDNIGHT WILL NOT COUNT FOR POINTS. We will also announce the winner the morning on Tuesday August 12th, 2025!

🪧HOW TO SIGN UP🪧

Please follow the instructions on how to do this so we have no confusions and we can keep this simple.

Name: ___________________
Reading Pace: (On a reading pace of 1-5, 1 being slow and 5 being fast... what would you give yourself on pace.)
Team Preference: We will try and put you on the team you want, but we are trying to make teams as fair as possible. I hate saying this but, it's pretty much first come, first serve.
Anything else: This will also be where you will have reading slumps, moving, vacations, weddings, etc.

All we ask is that you are respectful to your team captains as well as your team readers, and please no negativity and be honest. If you are feeling a reading slump coming, you need to alert your team captain as soon as possible so we can find someone to help with points.

🔑RULES🔑

- As long as the books are started and finished between the dates of the challenge you can get points for your team. EXAMPLE: IF YOU START A BOOK BEFORE THE CHALLENGE, AS LONG AS YOU FINISH IT BEFORE THE CHALLENGE ENDS you can get points.

- Everyone can only use ACTIVITY PROMPTS 4 times. Book and Writing prompts are UNLIMITED!!!

- When you sign up for the challenge, you are automatically agreeing that you will help contribute to points. If you are not going to help or are not going to be active... you need to let your team captain know as soon as possible.

- Audio books ARE ALLOWED. Comic books ARE NOT ALLOWED. Cook Books ARE NOT ALLOWED.

- When it comes to logging books, you log whatever choice you choose. EXAMPLE if you choose to read a audio book, then you will log the audio version of that book. If you choose a paperback version, you log the paperback version. DIFFERENT VERSIONS CAN CHANGE

- Any book that is logged for points during the challenge HAS TO BE OVER 100+ pages to log for points.

- If you DNF (Did Not Finish) a book, in order to log the book, you HAVE TO BE AT LEAST 30% through to log it for points. ANYTHING UNDER IS NOT ALLOWED FOR POINTS.

-Everyone will have 48 hours FROM THE TIME YOU FINISH A BOOK to log it for points. AFTER 48 HOURS IS GONE, IT CAN'T BE LOGGED FOR POINTS.

- ANY BOOKS that are started and finished on Fourth of July and Father's day are DOUBLE POINTS FOR YOUR TEAM! FOR THAT DAY ONLY!

- Have fun and be as competitive as you want to be, but please be respectful and treat others the way you want to be treated. No negativity please.

💯WAYS TO EARN POINTS💯

- Everyone will get to earn points based off how long the book is. Again versions can change so you will need to let us know what version you are using.

100-200 pages- +2 points
201-300 pages- +3 points
301-400 pages- +4 points
401-500 pages- +5 points
501-600 pages- +6 points
601+ pages or more- +7 points

Everyone will also get to earn points based off of how long your personal review of the book is, how long your responses are to the writing prompts, as well as if you choose to add activity prompts and book prompts. (PROMPTS ARE OPTIONAL BUT WILL MAKE YOU MORE POINTS.)

Less than 50 words- +2 points
50-100 words- +3 points
101-150 words- +4 points
151-200 words- +5 points
201-250 words- +6 points
251-300 words- +7 points
300+ words or more is +8 points


Everyone will get to make points based off the star rating of the book. Points system is right here for that.

1 star ⭐- +1 point
2 stars ⭐- +2 points
3 stars ⭐- +3 points
4 stars ⭐- +4 points
5 stars ⭐- +5 points

Remember completing prompts will make you more points for your team. ACTIVITY prompts can only be used 4 times. BOOK & WRITING prompts are UNLIMITED!

Book Prompts are (+8 points) each. Activity Prompts are (+3 points) each. Writing Prompts are based off of how long your responses are. (Point system is up above.)

🚤Comment or get to know 2 people that have Book Nooks.
🚤Invite at least 10 people to the group.
🚤Do something special for you Father on Father's day.
🚤Go on a trail walk, or hiking for at least 15+ minutes.
🚤Bake a special treat for you or someone. (Tell us what you baked.)
🚤Try a new summer recipe for dinner, breakfast, or lunch.
🚤Try a new summer recipe dessert.
🚤Spend at least 15+ minutes at a park.
🚤Go on a walk with your pet for at least 20+ minutes.


Writing Prompts are based off how long your responses are. Please use this word counter and put how many words your response has. You can also use that for personal reviews as well.

So I can't promise that whatever team you are on that everyone will be active. All I can do is guess where you will fit in best. I know Ana has been taking a break from reading since she has been busy and she is hoping this changes soon. I personally speaking for myself am trying to pick up my reading speed and be more active so I guess I can put you on Ana's team and do some rearranging but you let me know what's easier for you.

Leave me there for now and Hopefully all teams will be equally balanced. Currently trying to get a complete listing of all the RAB, prompts, etc. Huge list to try to keep up with lol

I will leave you on that team for now, We are currently trying to decide if we only need 3 teams for right now but we haven't decided yet. So that could change..... I'm sorry the lists are so long for prompts but more ways to make points right..... Your fine and whatever team you are on we will work with you girl!

Dori!!! Welcome back and we are glad to see you back! We all need breaks every now and then so your good! You are on team Bora Bora!

REMINDER:

The winning team of the challenge will get to organize the details for the next challenge, pick their team name and will get to add 1 book that EVERYONE agrees on to add to August's BOTM.

Other teams will get to choose their team name and will also get to add 1 book that EVERYONE agrees on. So I would highly recommend you stay active and if you are the winning team put some input and ideas or else other teams are going to help out.

Also I am doing Jane Austen July, yardwork, crafting, going to our local lake, and tourist things this summer so not sure how many prompts I will complete but I will do my best! 😊
