Anyone can nominate as many books as you'd like and look for a buddy! Any book that gets two nominations or more will have a buddy thread created for discussion during August. Please decide your start date and reading pace/reading goals in this thread. Once that has been decided, the mods will create a Buddy Read Discussion thread for that title. Reading the Buddy Read Guidelines is strongly recommended. There is no promise that you will have a buddy read for your nomination(s).

That's great! We don't have to start at the beginning of the month. When do you think you will be ready?

@Anushka: I would love to buddy read these two:
Accomplice to the Villain - I have this preordered so will probably get it by Friday next week (8/8) since I rarely get my preorders on the release day or even the day after. The other two books have been fairly quick reads so depending on how long this one is shouldn't need a large chunk of time?

The Grapes of Wrath - This is one of my favorite books (from what I recall when I read it like 20 years ago) and have been wanting to do a re-read! With it being a classic I would be okay with spreading it over a longer period of time? It looks like there may be 30 chapters?

message 19: by Anushka (new)

Anushka Malik (_anushkamalik) | 461 comments Ah that's great @Brianna C
Let's start with Grapes of Wrath tomorrow? We can do 2 chapters a day, because I had to dnf the last time I tried reading it. Hopefully I'll have a better run with it this time around.

We can start Accomplice to the Villain when we get the book. I agree that's a much faster read. We could easily gobble that one in 3-4 days tops.

re: Grapes of Wrath - Can we start Saturday? I won’t really have reading time tomorrow and want to start not behind. lol 2 chapters a day so 15 days?

re: Accomplice to the Villain- Once I get tracking i’ll let you know what my anticipated start date would be!

Yes. 15 days for Grapes of Wrath!
And 4-5 ish for Accomplice to the Villain. I'm fine with whenever you wish to start for both. Just that, I want them on my August reads.

message 36: by Héloïse ☾ (new)

Héloïse ☾ | 89 comments @Juliane @The Honey Witch

It's fine with me to start on the 15th :) As for the pace, I'm not sure. Maybe around forty pages a day? I don't know how many chapters there are or how that would break down. Otherwise, we can always adjust the pace.

message 37: by Brianna (new)

Brianna C | 1248 comments @Anushka re: Accomplice to the Villain

I finally got my copy! It looks like 85 chapters plus a prologue and an epilogue so 87 total across 357 pages. If we do 5 days it is about 71 pages/day. Does the below work for you? I'll say a start date of either Monday 8/11 or Tuesday 8/12 so there is time for the thread to be created (but no rush)?

day 1: prologue - chapter 15
day 2: chapter 16 - chapter 35
day 3: chapter 36 - chapter 52
day 4: chapter 53 - chapter 67
day 5: chapter 68 - epilogue

Anushka Malik (_anushkamalik) | 461 comments @Brianna C, I'll be traveling from 15-17 and some work needs doing before then. Should we start on 18?

message 40: by Héloïse ☾ (new)

Héloïse ☾ | 89 comments @Juliane @The Honey Witch

I quickly looked inside my edition. Forty pages is about three or four chapters, depending. There are 42 chapters plus a few pages of introduction and conclusion. Maybe we can say four chapters per day?

If it's four chapters per day, that makes about ten days:

Week of 08/15
15: Chapters 1-4
16: Chapters 5-8
17: Chapters 9-12

Week of 08/18
18: Chapters 13-16
19: Chapters 17-20
20: Chapters 21-24
21: Chapters 25-28
22: Chapters 29-32
23: Chapters 33-36
24: Chapters 37-40

Week of 08/25
25: Chapters 41-the end

What do you think ?

Splitting it over ten days with the pace of around 40 pages a day works well for me too.

Thank you for making the schedule.

Hi, sorry to be a bother again. I would really love to plan my reading month so I would really appreciate it if you could give me an update whether you still want to read Tress or not :)
