Samuel (samuel-books) | 3 comments Hello,
this month, I became a member of Goodreads, transferring my account from a good Czech database called Databáze knih, which had become too small for my needs. In this database, after adding a certain number of books to their account, each member can add and edit all books without having to take a quiz or write a letter and then wait several months for it to be accepted. It works perfectly here. So I ask: why do you have to take a quiz before you can become a librarian? Is it really necessary? I understand that you have certain principles here, but I have already tried to take the quiz three times, each time unsuccessfully. Just today, I came across the question: When a book is out of print, you can: A: Delete the book B: Remove all the information from the record C: Replace the description with a note informing members that the book is out of print. D: Add a discreet note to the top of the description. I read your support, I answered F - wrong. I asked ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini, and they all answered F. I would really like to know the correct answer. I would like to ask you to grant me the title of librarian without having to take the quiz. I will write you a 20-page letter explaining why I want to be one.
Thank you for your prompt response.
Samuel

Scott | 8547 comments The only way to become a librarian is to pass the quiz and be approved by staff.

I can only tell you that one of the answers you posted here is the correct one. It's really common sense if you understand the point of Goodreads at all. I have no idea what F was so I cannot help you there.

The quiz exists to confirm that you actually know the rules and don't do the wrong thing. It's quite reasonable really. Instead of asking an AI for the answers, maybe read the manual?
