Dana and Kellan Rhodes were found frozen in a deep gully alongside a highway. If Michelle’s car hadn’t crashed near that spot, it’s possible they would not have been found before spring. Was that the killer’s intention perhaps?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments Yes, he knew the area well and that it would be a while for them to be found (if ever). He could then claim that Dana had taken Kellan and disappeared.

Michelle's crash was bad luck for him!

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think the killer knew that the police had searched the bridge area the day before. He may have helped with the search. So, if he stashed the bodies there, no one would find them for months.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree. The plan was to hide the bodies until spring, and hopefully destroy and evidence he may have left.

Moondance (moondance120) | 23 comments Yes, the killer hoped that the bodies would not be found until the area thawed in the Spring.

~Melissa~ | 429 comments I believe so. Time would destroy evidence as well.

I agree, he was counting on no one finding those bodies, ever. He would have later disposed of them when he had more time.
