For our group reads for - October - we have chosen two books each with the theme - Opal Birthstone - Books set in Rural Australia - therefore members will have four to choose from when you vote in the poll. (Once again, all Aussie authors)

Our choices are:

Along Country Roads by Mandy Magro Along Country Roads by Mandy Magro

On the run from her troubled past in a stolen four-wheel drive, Matilda Denver seeks the sanctuary of sleepy Moonstone Valley where she hopes to heal and make a fresh start. But her plans go awry when the vehicle breaks down and she's stranded at the side of a deserted country road.

The Prospect by Fleur McDonald The Prospect by Fleur McDonald

No matter how much or how little you find, you will never, ever own the gold. It will always own you.

After a scandal, investigative reporter Zara Ellison and her partner, policeman Jack Higgins have moved to Kalgoorlie - each struggling with this fresh start. This wild mining town has its own rules, and its inhabitants - drawn by the lure of gold and riches - guard their secrets carefully.

Wild Horses by Jennifer Scoullar Wild Horses by Jennifer Scoullar

Christy Peacock is devastated when an unfounded scandal throws her life as a drama teacher at a prestigious Sydney school off track. With her dream career in shreds, she spontaneously answers an ad to work at Currawong Creek, a horse therapy camp for troubled children nestled among the picturesque Bunya Mountains.

Needle in a Haystack by Karly Lane Needle in a Haystack by Karly Lane

Owner of a little antique shop in small country town Banalla, Lottie is on the committee that is about to launch a new festival celebrating local history, including gentleman bushranger Jack McNally.

Altogether, Lottie feels happy. Mostly. But when festival guest speaker Professor Damian Loxley roars into town a week early, Lottie is caught off guard.
