For over a year now, it seems that the web browser version of GoodReads has been broken. One of my main uses of GoodReads has been tracking my progress through the books I'm reading. Now, however, that functionality is either broken or has been removed. When you add a book to your currently reading shelf, it no longer appears on your front page. Because it no longer appears there, you cannot update your reading progress for new books, nor can you log comments with each update. I've logged several bug reports over the course of a year, and each time I receive the same non-answer: Thank you! We are aware of the issue, and we're working on it.
Well, after about a month of work, I've learned enough MySQL and Windows Forms programming to create my own reading tracker application and will be slowly migrating all my reading history over to that application. GoodReads, and their parent company, Amazon, will survive just fine without my data.
