Maha Mirza (moonlight_0416) | 17 comments i think u just have to have a plot and the rest of the things just comes in your head as soon as you hold the pen....atleast this happens with me....but i really have problems in naming characters

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

i get bored and think up random stuff or ill c things and go 'wow, that would make a really good story!' and then if i find the time and am bored enough, i get it all down on paper/computer. like with my finished (but still in the editing process) story violet sky i started out with the prologue in my head forever and then i just kept going

writing to me is putting life into words that others can relate to in one way or another

♫Huneeya♥ | 687 comments thats a really good explanation
i write because its what i DO
its about making up another world, creating something unheard of, entirely different, its about teaching people things, all through WORDS

I'amber (xiamberx) | 49 comments Wirting to me is a passion, passion that comes within your mind and everything around you, words flowing from your mind to your hand (:.

♫Huneeya♥ | 687 comments writing just IS
even the best of writers cannot explain the way it feels to create something like a story, or simply to write

message 16: by [deleted user] (new)

Writing is my escape. I often write about things I don't have or wish I had - now do you see why I always write romance? =P When I miss my older brother, I write about him.

I write for me and for my characters. I love all my characters to death and I just have to write about their lives. Sometimes they're not too fond of me because of what I do to them, but... that's beside the point. Hehe.

I write because I have to. I have no idea why, but I have to write or I shrivel up and die inside.

I love seeing that a story exists outside of my head. It's cool to see what I've planned out written on paper or, preferably, a computer screen. I love seeing people's reactions to my writing, to know that what's in my head can entertain and manipulate their emotions the way I want it to... Man, that sounds evil.

Writing just comes naturally to me, so it makes sense that I should do it as a hobby. I've hardly ever had a hard time writing about something, not even for school... except the occasional essay that seems like it's specially designed to torture.

That's enough of my blabbering for now. I'm tired and I have school tomorrow.

♫Huneeya♥ | 687 comments Part of why I write is because it feels so great to just let the words flow from ur mind
but another part is reading people's comments
u get amazed by how great they think the story is and everything, it just wows me and makes me feel all warm and mushy inside and i swear i can almost FEEL my heart swell with pride

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

i love reading ppls comments thats the best part :)

Catherine wrote: "i love reading ppls comments thats the best part :)"

I know! One girl commented on my story and said "You definitely have a future in writing". Made my LIFE, I tell you. My newest goal is to become a published author soon. If I feel down, sometimes I just read the nice comments people have made, and I can't resist a smile.

message 20: by ♫Huneeya♥ (new)

♫Huneeya♥ | 687 comments XD yes the bestest comment i ever got was

"I am so proud to call myself your cousin"

message 21: by Hope (new)

Hope awww... you guys have such good friends! I want to become a published author too, but it sure is tough to actually finish a book. The beginning is definitely the hardest. I think that writing is all about letting out your feelings and showing a side of you that no one else really knows, except you. It's all about showing your passion and the deep feelings within. It is a big part of who I am and who I want to become.

Yeah. In fact, my writing shows so much of me that I refuse to let my mom or dad read it. It just feels weird to me. I mean, I write pretty much all romance, and I just don't want my parents to read my writing for some reason. I let my sisters read it, though. Hehe. Sisters are so different from parents.

message 23: by Hope (new)

Hope Haha! I agree! I write mostly romance as well and I never let my parents read it because
1. they never ask
2. it would be awkward
3. there is so much revising to do it would be embarassing

Exactly! Phew. I was scared I'd be mobbed by people saying, "What's wrong with you? You're an idiot for not letting them read your writing" or things like that. I'll let them read it eventually... possibly... but not now. Teenage years are hard enough without having to worry about what your parents think of your writing...

message 25: by Hope (new)

Hope I totally agree! It's nice to know that someone is on the same page, sometimes I have to show someone so I show my best friend but not that often because she doesn't share my interest in writing that much. She likes it but she isn't as passionate, she doesn't want to make her life form around it.

Yeah. I'm lucky because my friends are pretty supportive about my writing. Most of them write stories, too, so I'm covered in that area.

message 27: by Hope (new)

Hope Well, she is supportive, but it isn't the same because she just isn't as into it as me. I have a friend here on goodreads though that I can converse with at school and such and she understand because she is a good writer and she is supportive and understanding.

message 28: by Kim (new)

Kim Crowley (kimcrow) | 553 comments My parents have never read my writing and probably never will.
they only know that i write becuase my annoying brother blabbed after he saw me writing it.

message 29: by ♫Huneeya♥ (new)

♫Huneeya♥ | 687 comments but srsly u guys if u let ur parents read like just a sample of it, they wud encourage u so much and make u feel so good. plus its my parents who hav rly motivated me 2 b a writer in the first place

message 30: by Kim (new)

Kim Crowley (kimcrow) | 553 comments I dont want my parents to read it.
1) i would be embaressed
2) all of them have a little bit of romance in them (or are going to)
3) its just too gaddamn weird

message 31: by ♫Huneeya♥ (new)

♫Huneeya♥ | 687 comments xD u cud let them read something without romance
like a short story or something lol

message 32: by Kim (new)

Kim Crowley (kimcrow) | 553 comments i dont write short stories..
plus my parents dont really know me that well
they know me but they dont really know what goes on in my life/head ect..
the only thing of mine that they listen/watch is my music and nothing else really.. they also see some of my drawing sometimes but my writings kinda personl even though it isnt that good and im quite an odd person when it comes to personal stuff.. i let poeple that i barely know hear about it ect. but the poeple close to me get to stay in the dark about it.

i dont know whether that made any sense. i have a complicated mind ^^

Kim Crowley (kimcrow) | 553 comments I was on the way back from band practice an hour ago and i told my dad my word count and he started going like this:

Dad - Please can i read it after its finished?
Kim - Nope
Dad - but... pleaaasssee
Kim - nope
Dad - but you spent all this time and effort on it! pleeaassee
Kim - nope
Dad - please please please please please
Kim - not going to happen. its just a load of depressing rubbish anyways
Dad - but you put a lot of effort into it. pleeeaaasssee.
Kim - nope.

we went on like that for ten minutes :L
it is definatly not going to happen seen as all of the characters in my book are real people and he and my mum are in there. also there is swearing and suicide attempts so he is definatly never going to lay eyes on it until i am about 15.

message 34: by Acacia (new)

Acacia (acaciaa) I had the a similar conversation with my stepdad (who is no longer my stepdad) a few years ago, except it was more like:

Stepdad - What are you doing?
Acacia - Writing.
Stepdad - Let me read.
Acacia - No.
Stepdad - Why not?
Acacia - Because.
Stepdad - Are you going to let anyone read it?
Acacia - Probably not.
Stepdad - Then what's the point of writing it?

I wanted to sock him in the face.

And wait, Kim, I thought you were 15?

Anyways, my step dad reads my writing, most of the time. My mom doesn't ever.
And my sister reads it with out my permission. :L
