Below give a full review of the book. By full I am talking at least 2 paragraphs. Talk about what you liked; what you didn't; what worked and what didn't. How does this book compare to any other Holocaust stories? Would you recommend it to other people? Why or why not?

Brenden | 1 comments Maus was an interesting book, I would say that it made me curious to keep flipping the pages. The way the characters were set up as binaries peaked my interest towards the book. I liked that the Jews were the mice and the cats were German nazis, opposites of each other. The cats had dominants over the mice, making them the "supreme power", over the mice.

Maus had a lot of scenes where the author put in his own feelings about writing the book. It showed his struggles he had to face while writing the novel. The personality of the dad was a part of the book that shed light on how Artie was raised in the 50's. He was blamed for every mistake the did, not willing to take response ability for his own actions. Overall I liked the graphic novel because I liked how this book was told by the father and the son and partially the step, that made it have three people confirming what the son was righting.

Zak Ross | 1 comments I thought that Maus was a great book. I thought it was an interesting way to portray what happened during the time the Nazis invaded. It explains how life was back in that time for the Jews and what they went through. I like books about history but sometimes I get bored from them so this helped make it more interesting and made me like it a lot more.

Kevin | 1 comments This story was very interesting to read. Although there was something I didn't like I am not a big fan of death at times so the fact that Anja committed suicide was a really sad. There was many things I did like one was how the author made this story into a comic strip.
It was easier to read so i was able to get many facts about the story. Seeing it through the eyes of someone who went through the Holocaust was very interesting and sad. Since this is a form of biography about the authors father the story may have been different if the author actually found.

Dillon Hale | 1 comments Maus was interesting. It gave the reader a different perspective of the Jews. It shows how the Nazi's treated the Jews and how life was. But it puts it in an perspective of mice pigs and cats.

BigdickmcdoubleD | 1 comments I didn't really like the book it kind of just started and never stop. To me it couldn't keep my attention. The people had no facial features so the I didn't know who was who.

I haven't read any holy cost books but I think that it is up their in the ranks

Jared Lange | 3 comments Maus was a different approach to the issue of the Holocaust. In my opinion, I liked how they expressed the people as animals, because it was easier to know who was who. I liked how everyone looked the same, so there was no individuality. I like the character development between the characters. I liked the personal connection we got with the author.

John Nowland | 1 comments I found this book very interesting. I would highly recommend this book to another person. The reason I would recommend this is because it shows what happend during the holocaust.

The one this I would warn people about in this book is pay attention to all of the little details. Olson one thing I didn't like is it gets hard to follow at times. The las thing I would say about this book is it is hard to understand what the characters are saying due to the dialog.

message 10: by Josh (new)

Josh Tepera | 1 comments I really liked the book overall. It showed a historical event and it made it fun to read by not having it all just be facts and boring stuff. He gave some reason to have written the book and it was really good. One thing I did not like about the book was that it had weird grammar to it so it kind of made it difficult to read.

This book is not like any other holocaust stories because all of the other ones at just straight facts whereas this one is more entertaining to read. Yes I recommend this book to others because it made it fun to read about the holocaust and not a drag.

Jared Lange | 3 comments I really did not like the book I found it lacked character. Also there were too many scandalous things presented on maus

message 12: by Austin (new)

Austin Griffith | 1 comments I enjoyed maus. It's a very different way to portray the holocuast and it just kind of shows how in the war the nazis viewed everyone from a certain race as the same thing, because all the Jews were the same, the nazis were all the same cats, etc. Again, it's a good book, and I'm looking forward to prt two.

message 13: by Trey (new)

Trey | 1 comments Maid was a very interesting book. It shows the holocaust I. A respectful way without showing all the gore. I do like the fact that the Germans are cats.

But I bet it was a big caust for the Germans

Gage Narramore | 1 comments I like book, for the most part. At the start it didn't seem interesting but after awhile it became good. This book gave some interesting facts about the holocuast.

message 15: by Derrick (new)

Derrick | 1 comments I thought it was a good book, I like how there was a lot of detail on what was going on and how they had to struggle. I didn't really like how the sentences were writ how yoda talks so it was confusing. I would definitely recommend this book to people who like history

message 16: by Bai (new) - rated it 3 stars

Bai | 1 comments I didn't like the book. There was no closure at the end. And the characters all looked the same. I couldn't tell who was who. The one good thing about this book is it tells the story of the holocaust without being so gruesome.

Most times in holocaust stories they show people getting hurt and killed. I liked how it showed mice instead of people. It was easier to handle. I would recommend it only if the person is interested in WWII, but didn't want to see all the blood and gore.

message 17: by Brayden (new)

Brayden Barker | 1 comments I thought the book was super interesting. The way they gave a completely different view of the halocaust with rats instead of actual people. It gave a different view of how things were to be a Jew and survive it all. It made me ponder on a bunch of different things like how hard it really was to survive it all. It showed a view that I've never really seen before.

message 18: by Jesus (new)

Jesus | 1 comments I am not sure if i liked this book or not. It shows the holocaust in a respectful type way. It shows it without all the violence and stuff. I like how they used animals instead of people and how they all looked similar.

The author of Maus did a good job of showing what it was like to be a Jew. Everything they had to go through and what they had to do to survive, if they did survive. I guess I did kind of like this book.

Fletcher Wadsworth | 1 comments Maus was a pretty good book, if only a little underdone. I liked the light and relatable portrayal of such a sad and horrendous event. It made it a way to experience the horror without really experiencing it. I wish it was longer however, because there was probably so much more anecdotal reports of an unimaginable time.

Everyone should read this, or at least a book like it. The Holocaust was a pivotal time in the world's history. For hearing about how people lived during this time, Maus is the best bridge between entertainment and empathy.
