I am still in the early early british history. It is somewhat interesting, but I am learning that Britian was a weak little cowardice country, before they 'grew up'. lol

Aww, bye, :(

message 8: by Ana (new)

Ana | 8 comments I'm learning about world history in school right now, but I'd much rather learn about American history. With world history, there is so much to learn in so short a time that I never get to delve into the interesting details. However, with American history, I can delve really deep into the details, and I love how interesting that makes things. For the next two years I'll be taking only American history, so that will be awesome! :)

Anyways, right now I'm reading Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. I haven't been able to read much because I've been furiously working on both schoolwork and Camp NaNo, but I love what I've read so far.

I have never read Mansfield Park. :-\ My older sister has though, and if I remember correctly it is her favorite of all of Austen's books. Mine is Sense and Sensibility. :)

So far my favorite Austen book is Pride and Prejudice. I can't get enough of the banter between Mr. and Mrs. Bennet.

Yes! They were the worst fictional match ever, but so hilarious together.

Firefly (fireflys12) | 20 comments I'm currently reading "The Children of Hurin," But J.R.R. Tolkien... *sniffs* it's very dark and sad and depressing, but I'm enjoying it as much as one can while crying your heart out because of the deaths of your favorite characters *bursts into tears*

message 13: by Anna (new)

Anna I am reading a lot of books right now! I am reading an Agatha Christie mystery, Tortured for Christ, Inkdeath, The Heavenly Man, and like two more!

Have any of you guys read Agatha Christie mysteries?

message 14: by Mary (new)

Mary (literarypiesociety) Yes! I have read some Agatha Christie mysteries. I love them!!! Especially the Poroit ones, I think they are the best.

I have read Inkdeath too. I haven't read the last book in the series yet. I keep forgetting about it. :P

message 15: by Anna (new)

Anna Inkdeath is the last book! Maybe you're thinking of Inkspell.

Yeah, I love the Hercule Poirot ones!

message 16: by Mary (new)

Mary (literarypiesociety) Yeah, maybe I am. lol

Have you watched any of the Poirot tv show episodes?

message 17: by Anna (new)

Anna No! I didn't even know they had them! I need to watch those!

message 18: by Mary (new)

Mary (literarypiesociety) You should! They are very good.

But be careful, some of them have nudity in them. :-\ We found that out when we watched one of the episode. I was so upset about it, why would they do that!?

message 19: by Anna (new)

Anna Ugh! Yeah, I will have to careful with that. Sometimes I get so mad. They put such unnecessary things in stuff! Why do you need nudity? :/

message 20: by Mary (new)

Mary (literarypiesociety) IKR!

message 21: by Anna (new)

Anna :d I hate it also when they put swearing in good movies! I mean some stuff is necessary to the plot. For example, the inappropriate part in Iron Man one, if you have seen it you know what I mean, is necessary to show what a playboy he is. But other stuff is just unneeded!

message 22: by Mary (new)

Mary (literarypiesociety) I have not seen Iron Man because of the inappropriate stuff in it.
But I get what you are saying.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

Currently reading The Wee Free Men and Interpreter of Maladies. Both are completely opposite genres, it's difficult to keep track of both lol.

message 24: by Mary (new)

Mary (literarypiesociety) What are they about? I don't think I have heard of those books before. :)

Oh Mansfield Park was my long-standing favorite until I read Persuasion. I highly recommend it!
