Kasia Whoops! It's November already. I forget myself. But the tread is up and running, so we're good, right? Right?!

Anyways, I'm in the middle of The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest and I'm a little sad. I love the Millenium series, there's nothing like it, and this is the last book. And there's never going to be more because the dude went and died on me. The horror! But enough of that, if you ever feel like a good crime/mystery story - I strongly recommend Stieg Larsson, guy sure knew his craft.

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments Kasia, I have the first two in that series, it's good to hear you are enjoying it. Will wait till the third one comes out in the smaller paperback size to buy it.

I'm currently reading The Warlord Wants Forever by Kresley Cole from the Playing Easy To Get anthology.

message 3: by southpaw285 (new)

southpaw285 | 588 comments Oooohh, I'm not familiar with either of these two series. I will have to check them out.

Right now I'm smack-dabb in the middle of Riding Temptation by Jaci Burton, which is book #2 in the "Wild Riders" series.

I really liked the first book in this series, but I'm having trouble with this second book. I'll have to finish it though, whether I like it or not...I'm OCD that way.

message 4: by Julianna (new)

Julianna (authorjuliannad) | 1888 comments I just started Touched by Fire by Kathleen O'Reilly today. So far it's really sweet, and I'm enjoying it.

message 5: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 367 comments Grave Secret by Charlaine Harris

message 6: by tosca (new)

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments Just finished Running Hot by Jayne Ann Krentz. Overall good but it'd been a while since I'd read one from this series so a lot of the terms had me going, 'Wtf...?!' Note to self: stay up to date! Reading a lot of stuff that isn't challenge-related, such as: All a Twitter A Personal and Professional Guide to Social Networking with Twitter by Tee Morris, Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas, The Second Betrayal by Cheyenne McCray, Her Fearful Symmetry A Novel by Audrey Niffenegger and Night Shift by Lilith Saintcrow.

message 7: by Shannon (new)

Shannon (theholyterror) | 303 comments Finished Grave Secret (Harper Connelly, #4) by Charlaine Harris on Sunday then started reading Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1) by Richelle Mead . Love it so far!

message 8: by Yz the Whyz, Moderator (last edited Nov 03, 2009 09:11AM) (new)

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Currently reading Deidre Knight's Red Kiss A Gods of Midnight Novel, 2nd book in the series. So far so good, but then I've always like the way she writes.

Also listening on audiobook to Untamed, book 4 in PC Cast's House of Night. Different reader than the previous 3 I listened to, and her voice and the characters' teenage antics are starting to get on my nerves...LOL...serves me right for sticking with this series, even when I think Zoey is such a hypocritical, self-righteous teen. But at least the previous reader was good, so it wasn't as grating.

Claire Mojieski The Memoirs of Cleopatra by Margaret George

I'm reading the Memoirs of Cleopatra. It's 1000 pages and I have a teething child so I'm probably going to be reading this all month. So far, I'm 150 pages into it and it's amazing! I absolutely love it. I actually went to the library today to see what else they had on Cleopatra and Caesar so I can add it to my tbr list.

I had to add this one to my wish list, M. It sounds so good. I also have a book - Cleopatra's Daughter by Moran Michelle, but I've yet to read it. Looking forward to it though.

message 11: by Dija (new)

Dija @Shannon: I love love love VA. One of my most favorite series of all time. Rose and Dimitri are such wonderful characters. I'm glad you're enjoying it so far.

message 12: by Barbara ★ (new)

Barbara ★ | 3901 comments I just started Caine's Reckoning. Sounds like a good erotic novel.

message 13: by Purple (new)

Purple (purpletan) | 1221 comments I'm reading Breaking Point by Suzanne Brockmann. Its a Troubleshooters Series. I got started on this through Ms Yz' unknowing influence =) And I'm glad I did.

message 14: by Mel W (new)

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments I've just finished Red Lily by Nora Roberts - it is the third book in her In the Garden trilogy. Loved it.

I'm now re-reading Naked in Death by JD Robb aka Nora Roberts. I needed a Roarke fix :)

message 15: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 4413 comments Down to the last 100 pp. of The Girl Who Played with Fire. Next is Loving the Highlander - I need something light after TGWPWF!

message 16: by tosca (new)

tosca (catatonichataholic) | 742 comments Read Seduce Me at Sunrise by Lisa Kleypas and didn't like it. No, that's not true, didn't like the main characters. Ordinarily I adore any book by Kleypas but this one. Eep. He was a bossy, dictatorial, jealous, irrational, stalker type love interest and she was a milksop. The supporting characters were good :) Am going to continue the series - am holding out for Leo's book. He has all the best lines.

message 17: by Kasia (new)

Kasia Stephanie wrote: "Reading Skin Trade by LKH. Do any November birthday people have this one on their shelves? "

Nope, sorry I just did a quick search on all of their shelves and nada. Maybe you can work it into some other category.

message 18: by Mirela (new)

Mirela (awkward_squirtle) Right now Im reading The Demon You Know by Christine Warren, its kind of romantic. It does have a bit of smut in it. Just a warning. It is the third part of the series and it is really good, a little cliche but really interesting.

message 19: by Claire Mojieski (new)

Claire Mojieski Last night I took a break from The Memoirs of Cleopatra (which is amazing!) and started reading Strip Search by Shelly Bradley/Shayla Black. I've read better books by her but this one is okay. The main character Nicki is a little weird, but I'm really into the story so I'm going to finish it.

message 20: by Kasia (new)

Kasia The Memoirs of Cleopatra sounds intriguing, but I find it also a bit intimidating - over 1000 pages? Whoa!

message 21: by Cindy (new)

Cindy (cindya) I am currenly reading Bitten by Kelley Armstrong. This is the first book written by Kelley Armstrong that I am reading, I cant beleive that I have avoided her all this time because as a rule I don't like first person narratives. I have had a complete change of mind after reading Linda Howard's To Die For & Drop Dead Gorgeous & Outlander by Diana Garbadon.

message 22: by Dija (new)

Dija Currently reading Night World #1. Not too great, not too bad. Pretty average.

Cindy (cindya) Just finished Bitten (Women of the Otherworld, #1) by Kelley Armstrong great book, rushed to the bookstore and bought the sequal, Stolen (Women of the Otherworld, #2) by Kelley Armstrong . Stayed up all night and finished listining to Sworn to Silence by Linda Castillo what a great book, the abduction scared the heck out of me though. I am just starting Burning Wild (Leopard People, #3) by Christine Feehan ; don't know if I can continue as it seems like I have read it before??? Also I'm dying to start Stolen or Covet (Fallen Angels, #1) by J.R. Ward but trying to take a break from long reads?? Can't decide!

message 27: by southpaw285 (new)

Thanks so much for the link. I love Julia Quinn's books. Can't wait to preview/read more of them. :)

I ♥ Bookie Nookie (bookienookiereviews.blogspot.com) (ibookienookie) Just finished Sugar Daddy (Travises, #1) by Lisa Kleypas --it was a great story--loved the characters. Don't get me wrong, it is not a deep read. Great light, easy read. Now I am starting the 2nd in the series called Blue-Eyed Devil (Travises, #2) by Lisa Kleypas

message 34: by Mel W (new)

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments Just finished Born of Night - really liked it, perhaps even more than her Dark Hunter series!

About to start MaryJanice Davidson's Sleeping With the Fishes.

Purple (purpletan) | 1221 comments Finished the Breaking Point (Troubleshooters #9) by Suzanne Brockmann , now I'm on the tenth book of this series, Into the Storm (Troubleshooters #10) by Suzanne Brockmann . I just can't get enough of the N.SEALS.

message 40: by Mel W (new)

Mel W (melw) | 981 comments Sleeping With the Fishes was laugh out loud funny - I liked it. Fred is crude and sarcastic and a bit dim but I liked her :)

Now reading Frontier Woman by Joan Johnston. New author for me and liking it so far.

message 41: by Claire Mojieski (new)

Claire Mojieski I'm still reading Cleopatra, I'm 350 pages in and still loving it! This weekend I'm also reading The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty. It's good so far...but um...it has an awful lot of spanking in it.

message 42: by Kasia (new)

Kasia I've just finished Night Shift - my Pick-it-for-me book. It was a good pick.

I said it in the pick-it-for-me thread and I'll say it again:

At first I was afraid I might not like it all that much. The beginnig was a little unoriginal, but in no time I got sucked into the story, the were dude was yummy, Kismet likable and demons trully demonic, so in the end - I had fun. Which means another series to follow and put into my TBR, but that's ok, I welcome it.

So thanks Tosca for the recommendation! Thanks a lot!!

southpaw285 | 588 comments I've just finished up my third read in the Black Daggar Brotherhood series - Lover Awakened, and it was really good! Now I'm starting on
Maverick by Lora Leigh

Maverick (Elite Ops, #3) by Lora Leigh

I picked up the first one last night. There was this crazy woman at the bookstore telling me how much I'd love the series. I think I picked it up just to get her away from me. But since I've heard from a few people that the BD Brotherhood series is pretty good, I'll certainly give it a shot. (On a side note, you weren't by any chance raving at a middle aged guy with a shaved head decked out in black leather last night were you?)

message 45: by BJ Rose (new)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 4413 comments Ended up liking Home Song but not loving it.

Now listening to The Mummy Case by Elizabeth Peters, the 3rd book in the Amelia Peabody series, and just started Olive Kitteridge A Novel in Stories

I just finished reading Stolen I enjoyed it, but must admit you are right not as good as Bitten. I want to start Covet, but afraid to start tonight, if I do I know I'm not going to get any sleep, My husband will not be happy.

Maybe it was the black leather, Jim :) ?

Jim son of Jim (formerly PhotoJim) (jim_formerly_photojim) | 5294 comments Mel W wrote: "Maybe it was the black leather, Jim :) ?"

I doubt it. My wife was pretty much wearing the same outfit and we were obviously together. We were bar hopping and shoe shopping. These things often go together. We bought four books from the bookstore, a pair of black leather slingback kittenheels with chrome studs that are perfect with a black leather skirt and white blouse, and gorgeous fawn suede short boots with a 2 1/2" wood heel. Just a fun way to pass a Saturday night together.

ummm...no Jim, that wasn't me....hehehe!

At the risk of "ranting" though, I think you will really like this series.

Yz the Whyz (whyz) | 9327 comments Finished Red Kiss A Gods of Midnight Novel by Deidre Knight, and I definitely enjoyed it. I want to know whose story is next, but all seems quiet on the author's front.

Started Black Ice by Anne Stuart, for my romantic suspense.
