What I would have liked to know is, after Rakel was put in the room, all tied up by 'the snowman' (don't want to spoilt it for those reading) , and he had booby trapped the door, so the door could not be opened, plus the window had bars. How did

Excellent question! I thought it was somehow explained in the book but now I can't remember.
