I hear this book is really complex. I've just read the cast of characters so far and I'm already intimidated!

(view spoiler)[Yeah, I know. I was thinking that it's Cleo who has the powers that Sabina thinks Lucia does. Maybe I'm just mixing myself up though. Isn't Lucia the baby they kidnapped in the prologue? But it doesn't seem like she's going to have any powers so far.

People are dying left and right in this book. Now I see why they say it's Game of Thrones-ish.

Through chapter 21 (view spoiler)[So much death. Glad she killed Sabina, I really didn't like her. But I cant really connect with any of these characters, so the deaths don't matter much to me. Not sure, it's just not a very compelling read. Jonas is probably my favorite. His pain is really the only thing that seems real in all of this.<\spoiler> (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 26 (view spoiler)[I'm a little disappointed that Theon died. We barely got to know him tho, so it's still fine. I don't like how we didn't see any kind of bonding between him and Cleo.
All of a sudden he realizes he's in love with her, and I'm like 'how did that happen?' (hide spoiler)]

25% done (view spoiler)[I'm really intrigued by Magnus, Lucia, and Theon. still mixed feelings about Jonas, I feel bad about his brother dying but I'm not sure I empathise with him. Cleo I guess is a typical teenage girl, and I hope her character matures a bit more, right now she is whiny and annoying (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 8 (view spoiler)[ I'm not sure about the whole Magnus/Lucia thing, whether or not it's one sided or if Lucia feels the same...but I'm unsure how I feel about it. I'm guessing that Lucia is the child that Sabine stole 16 years ago so technically she isn't his sister...but they were still raised as brother and sister! Which makes it a bit weird!! Also I really can't stand Magnus's dad!! He's a bit of a psycho (hide spoiler)]
