Brett (battlinjack) | 4 comments I'm reading several. I always have 3-6 books going at once and read whichever one strikes me at the time.
To stay with the subject here, I have these going.

Under the Dome (2009) - Stephen King
One (2009) - Conrad Williams

These three are old novels and fairly quick reading for me. I can read each of them in about 2 hours.

A For Anything (1959) - Damon Knight
Population Doomsday (1970) - Don Pendleton
On The Beach (1957) - Nevil Shute

I have the film 'On The Beach' on my DVR as well. I need to watch it and see how close they stayed with the novel.

Michelle (lifeasabooknerd) I finished Elsewhere and Beat the Reaper: A Novel and am working on the audiobook for The Bottoms. Think I'm gonna start American Psycho tonight.

Michelle (lifeasabooknerd) Still listening to The Bottoms. You ever read a book that you're so into that you put off reading it because you don't want it to be over. That's this book for me. Also reading The Golden City. Sad about that too, since its the last book of a trilogy I've been following for years now. Be happy to see how it all plays out though.

Patrick (horrorshow) | 1 comments Things We Didn't See Coming by Stephen Amsterdam Things We Didn't See Coming by Steven Amsterdam

It was really bold how he created an alternative world in which the fears of the Y2K diasters came true. But very disjointed and loose. Nothing about if the World Trade Center still stands or if other countries have the same diaster because of electronics being mangled.

Earth Abides is one of my favorite post-apocalyptic novels. It seems very realistic to me. Jonathan, I just looked at your profile and realized I've heard of quite a few of your books. Patient Zero: A Joe Ledger Novel keeps catching my eye at the bookstore, but my reading pile is just way too big. I'll probably succumb to the temptation soon.

I'm one of those people who will read just about anything. Right now, I've got a couple of mystery-thrillers in the lineup; Reckless by Andrew Gross (my latest FirstReads win) and The Moonlit Earth by Christopher Rice. I met Christopher Rice at the LA Times Festival of Books and bought his book because he seemed kind of lost sitting next to Michael Connolly. Everyone was getting Connolly to sign books and nobody showed any interest in Rice. He did a good job of explaining what his book was about, so I bought it.

For post-apocalyptic reads, I finished listening to the audio book of Under the Dome last week and am listening to The Windup Girl by Paolo Bacigalupi now.

Does it seem to anyone that post-apocalyptic fiction is more popular now than any time since the Cold War?

Also, in the midst of publishing a book Demoness Magick(a mix of rituals, magick, chaos, extreme emotion, doll magick, word weaving, cutups, etc.) I included black & white artwork that goes with the book material. Printed hardcover black with a silver 37 pointed star on the cover.
