My favourite characters are Tessa, Will, Jem, Charlotte, Henry, Sophie, Gideon, Cecily Gabriel.... Basically all of them! They're great :D
They all started with Clockwork because the Magister is creating a clockwork army! He's a way better villain than Valentine, he was great.
I adored the ending; I loved that it gave every character a happy ending, especially for a love triangle where normally one character wouldn't what he deserved.
I could read this trilogy a million times and still be just as in love with it as I am now. I wouldn't do anything differently.

I loved The Infernal Devices even more than TMI. The writing and storytelling was different and it has a very unusual love triangle. Sometimes it's hard to believe that TID and TMI are both from the same author. The relationships in TID were so heartfelt, heartbreaking and intense. If I had to sum up TID in one word it would be- relationships.
I also loved learning the history of the Shadowhunters and the families that tie into TMI and soon the Dark Artifices... Lightwoods, Herondales, Fairchilds, Carstairs and Blackthorns. Tessa is linked and or related to them all and Jem knows their stories. We learn who Clary got her red curly hair from and who invented the portals. Magnus also plays an important role...like he always does.
Yep, Tessa is my favorite character. In fact she is one of my all time favorite characters.
“I am Theresa Gray, daughter of a Greater Demon and Elizabeth Gray, who was born Adele Starkweather, one of your kind. I was the wife of William Herondale, who was the head of the London Institute, and I was the mother of James Herondale and Lucie Blackthorn. Will and I raised our Shadowhunter children to protect mundanes, to live by the Laws of Clave and Covenant, and to keep to the Accords. Once, I lived among the Shadowhunters. Once I might almost have seemed like a person to you. ”
–Tessa to Jocelyn in 1993, The Last Stand of the New York Institute
The ending was one of the best I have ever read. I balled my eyes out, but it was in a good way too. It was beautifully written.
I really enjoyed seeing Tessa Gray and Jem in TMI and how their stories are thread through into powerful moments, like Clary's protection ritual, how her Mom came up with the name Fray as a mashup of Fairchild and Gray and of course they attended Jocelyn and Luke's wedding where she said she has a kinship to the Herondales and Fairchilds. I wanted her to explain why, but I guess she still can't. If I hadn't read TID those moments would not have meant the same.
I can't wait for Dark Artifices. I hope Tess and Jem show up.

Have you heard that Cassandra Clare’s fourth Shadowhunter Chronicles series is called THE LAST HOURS and takes place in 1903 sometime after TID?
The book titles are:
Book 1: Chain of Gold (slated for 2017 release)
Book 2: Chain of Iron
Book 3: Chain of Thorns
According to the Goodreads character list, it will include
Tessa Gray, Will Herondale and their children James and Lucie Herondale and several more.
I'm curious to learn the ages of Will, James and Lucie.

I'm such a book geek... whenever I learn that there is a new series that I want to read and it will be 2-5+ before the complete series come out.. I worry that something will happen to the author.

I think for me what made it better than TMI was the relationships and learning about the history of Shadowhunters. The Parabatai relationship and bond between Jem and Will is so strong and beautiful. So is the love triangle...it's just beautifully written and so full of emotion. Keep us posted if you decide to try it again.
