Jennifer (bookcrazyjenn) | 3 comments Not sure if this has been asked before - but I thought it would be fun to see who has a blog? What's your url? Mine is really new, and getting a face lift this weekend/week - but I love to "meet" new bloggers and find that I love reading reviews to get new idea's for awesome books - so what's your url's?

Mine is http://www.Book-Crazy.com - my daughter and I are actually doing it together, we both are huge YA fiction readers :D

Nikki (Wicked Awesome Books) | 5 comments I'm new to the group. My name's Nikki and I started a blog at the end of September. I read and review mostly YA books, but some adult books as well. I don't have anything special on my blog yet, but I hope to do some cool stuff in the future.

I'm currently holding a contest to win a signed paperback of Deadly Little Secret by Laurie Faria Stolarz.

V.J. Chambers (vjchambers) | 5 comments Um... I've got a blog. It's http://vjchambers.blogspot.com.

I post sporadic reviews of stuff I like to read and watch, which includes a lot of YA fiction. :)

message 7: by Michelle (new)

Michelle (michellezink) | 168 comments My blog is on the home page of my author site at www.michellezink.com! I post book news, crazy Youtube videos, music, interviews with teen readers, and an Open Mic feature on thursday nights in which aspiring writers post their 300-word writing excerpt for comment. It's become a really popular feature where everyone comments on the work posted, and I've come to enjoy getting a glimpse into the writing of others.

message 8: by Amanda (new)

Amanda Orlich Ahern (kittymeowxcore) | 56 comments I have a facebook, but it has nothing to do about reading. :)

I should start a blog and write reviews....hmmmmmm.....more on that later.

message 9: by Ashley Brooke (new)

Ashley Brooke I have a book review blog. It's fairly new and I'm just getting a rhythm going. It's mostly YA supernatural/fantasy titles.

message 11: by Carmen (last edited Feb 27, 2010 10:35AM) (new)

Carmen | 26 comments Here is my blog URL

http://www.carmenferreiroesteban.word...

I review mainly YA.

message 12: by Traci (new)

Traci I also have a blog.. I am doing the 100 book challenge this year and the blog is sort of a way for me to keep track of what number I'm on and what I've read previously. I give short reviews that are blunt and to the point so you don't have to sift through a lot of synopsis to get to whether or not the book was (in my opinion) worth reading.

☼Bookish in Virginia☼ (ren_t) There's some awesome sites out there, and listed here.

Bitten by Books is one - http://bittenbybooks.com/

BethFishReads - http://bfishreads.blogspot.com/

Not Just for Kids does both YA and Kidlit reviews - http://notjustforkids.blogspot.com/

As does the site I review for BooksForKids-reviews.com On our site probably the best way to find YA reading ideas would be to check out the "Sunday Salon" which just lists quickie comments

message 14: by Lea (new)

Lea My resolution for 2010 was to keep track of all the books that I read and to post them on my blog. I also use the blog to keep track of why I decide that certain books are okay for my classroom and certain books aren't (I teach 7th grade). Here's the link: http://bookitty.typepad.com. Stop by!

I mostly read and review YA and some PNR. I have a special guest review once a month,(hasnt reviewed just yet)my husband called "Hubby Approve" in the hopes that his opinion will spark other bf/hubbys to read YA and PNR. Also im in the Dystopian Challenge trying to read 20+ dystopian books like the Hunger Games. Stop in if you can. Thanks! Here's my link:

S.S. (ssrice) | 75 comments Thanks, Emily.
When i try to paste all that code into new Gadgets under Layout on my blog, it says "only 2500 characters". Is there another place to paste it?

message 23: by S.S. (new)

S.S. (ssrice) | 75 comments Duh. I didn't see that one. Thanks loads!

Last year my students and I started a YA Fiction blog - they write about 85% of the reviews and I add my opinions in there every once in a while! Check it out and follow us! We just added the Google Follow option!

message 26: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I know this is not officially book related, but it does kinda pertain to my book blog :-)

I am wanting to try my hand at Graphic Creation and Editing - does anyone know of a simple software program that won;t break the bank?

Advice needed! Thank you!!

message 27: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Oh I never saw this link before! I just opened my book blog about a month ago, but it's going pretty well! I'd like to say I only review YA books, but truth is I review whatever I feel like reading :).

A Fanatics Book Blog

S.S. (ssrice) | 75 comments Fanatic's

Sorry, but it really bugs me when people don't use correct punctuation and grammar in Titles.
(copy editor)

message 29: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) You know I didn't realize that until now S.S. Thank you! It is because the URL doesn't have an "S" in it. I'll have to go fix that on my banner also.

message 30: by S.S. (new)

S.S. (ssrice) | 75 comments I do like your blog. It has lots of good info!

message 31: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Much obliged! I fixed the banner and the button. Thanks again!

I'm a graphic designer by trade (writing is still in the "hobby" stage : )) but I'm not sure about "not breaking the bank" for the software. I use the Adobe products: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I think there are limited versions of Photoshop out there for not too much money - not sure about the others. It kinda depends on what kinds of graphics you want to do.

message 33: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments I want to make cool backgrounds, layouts, banners, etc. for my blog. Does that help?

message 34: by Alan (new)

Alan (coachmt) | 72 comments Yeah, some derivative of Photoshop would be the thing to start with probably. There are plenty of online tutorials for that as well.

message 35: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Photoshop is great for that Laura! You can probably find an older copy for a bit cheaper. I have CS4 and I love it.

message 36: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments Adobe Photoshop CS4 is $654.00 > this is what I call "breaking the bank" LOL

message 37: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Lol well you don't need CS4! It has a ton of programs. Just look for a copy of Photoshop :).

message 38: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) Free is the best price for me! You could always try:

The Gimp
http://www.gimp.org/

Paint.net
http://www.getpaint.net/

GimpShop
http://www.gimpshop.com/

These are all downloadable ones.

message 39: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Laura, yikes, I had no idea Photoshop was that expensive. I'm not a graphic designer so I don't know. My image editing skills are limited to Paint and Microsoft Office Picture Manager.

Anyway, just wanted to post my book blog's url in this thread: http://chachic.wordpress.com/ :) I mostly write about YA and fantasy books.

message 40: by Peep (Pop! Pop!) (new)

Peep (Pop! Pop!) There are also some online ones if you don't want to download anything, or if you've got a slower internet connection.

Pixlr
http://pixlr.com/editor/

fotoFlexer
http://fotoflexer.com/

Aviary
http://aviary.com/

(Those all look super nice, by the way!)

message 42: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Thanks Alan! :)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments okay... so you all have inspired me to create a blog... I'm still working on the set up, any suggestions or tips for a newbie?

message 44: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (roses7184) Chachic your blog header is adorable!

Yup CS4 is pricey, I only bought it because my boyfriend and I are delving into web design. :)

message 45: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Brittany, go with either a Blogspot or a WordPress site. :) I think Blogspot is easier to use but WordPress is pretty good too. Let me know if you ever decide to push through with the idea.

Jessica, thanks! A friend who's a graphic artist made it for me. :)

message 46: by Laura Beth (new)

Laura Beth (tampabookworm) | 229 comments Thank you all! I will look at those mentioned. :-)

message 47: by Jaimie (new)

Jaimie (jaimier) | 1275 comments I started a blog shortly before I joined this group but ended up not updating it because this site is so very addicting and well now it is just kind of on pause. Lame, I know but well I kind of have a problem.

message 48: by Heidi (new)

Heidi Jaimie I was thinking the same thing. I don't have a blog, but spend too much time on here to even ever update one if I did have one.

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 1328 comments Well, we'll see how mine goes. It's not going to be solely about books. Once I get a few more things figured out I'll give you guys the link. I'm still learning a lot about how to use wordpress.

message 50: by Renae (last edited May 16, 2010 03:21PM) (new)
