Works for me.
I`ll keep popping in to be nosey!!

I have done that for a couple of years now, as well as listing all my books I own on this site too. I have read 85 this year so far and some I have read more than once too! Lady Chatterley being tops at 14 times! I just love it! I read over 100 last year with one re-reads so guess it will be just as many this year too!

It's very cool to be able to list out the books you've read for the year along with the reviews. I exported my books & looked at those I read this year. 136, so far, with a few re-reads. Looking at the titles & shelves, I can see better where my interests lie, too.

I need to read more factual books, though. I don't list those I read for work - administrator documentation for various network applications, often 200 - 500 pages each, aren't exactly regular books, although they do wear me out for nonfiction reading. At lunch or after a day of that, I don't want to go home & think, I want to escape!

OMG!!!! That just gave me an idea, from now one I am going to make a journal and write what I thought about the book (Maybe chapter by chapter or just whole thing when I am done). I need a journal now... Get ready Barnes & Noble I got $100 and here I come... on Friday.

Good luck on your attempt Jo. I'm trying to go for around 50 this year which would about double what I read in 2009, I don't read as much as you guys... I couldn't imagine reading 100+ books a year, I have too many other things that I like to do in my down time. Although the commute to work is helping me get through books a lot faster than I used to.

Did you notice the difference between the end of the book & the movie, Jo? It wasn't much, but changed the entire tone.

You should try getting the movie & watching it again. I did & it was so worth it. The two really work well together, IMO. Having the pictures in my mind, especially of Alex, while reading the book really helped & then knowing the full story while watching the movie. It just really drove it home.

Hi Jo.I think War Stories are difficult to sit don and devour as by their very nature they make the reader uncomfortably aware of past atrocities....
I should be starting it in a couple of days....

Yeah, war told from the victim's side of things isn't comfortable or pretty. Unless you're a politician sitting comfortably at home, far away from the action, war is never pretty or glorious.

I saw this movie years ago and all I can remember is how weird it was!!!

I read the first one & really liked it. I haven't gotten around to getting the rest yet, though. Glad to hear it is still so good.

It's a theme that's been used a lot since then, but when you keep in mind the time that it was written in, it is much more powerful.

Is that the same as the movie with Kathy Bates? That movie scared the hell out of me!

Waiting until after sec d film on Tuesday to read second novel....

Will do.And the second film is out 26th November so I will wait and read the second book at the start of November to refresh my memory and then I will re d the third over Christmas....

Me too. She's awesome! :)..have you got the girl who kicked the hornets nest? You should enjoy that one too. Still think the first book was my favourite though by far.
