the first book is the ruins of gorlan. really good, but the series is better to read in order. but the burning bridge is good, too. :) enjoy the books!

Any way lets talk 'bout the 'Burning Bridge'
I couldn't believe my eyes when i read that
Morgarath,lord of rain and night
Gets killed so quickly!(by Horace!)
in book 6 what happens???? i don't have that book yet!
does will save Alyss? And who is the Sorcerer of the North???
also in book 4 what happens to Evanlyn???
she gets taken captive right? so how does Will or Halt and Horace Save her????
OR should i just wait and read the book?

Briaq (briaq) Wow, the Burning Bridge was...epic. I couldn't put it down. I started the third book, and I really hope they escape and Will gets better.

"Sirrah, my companion chooses to engage you in knightly combat!" Halt said. The horseman stiffened, sitting upright in his saddle. Halt noticed that he nearly lost his balance at this unexpected piece of news.
Nightly cermbat?" he replied, "Yewer cermpenion ers no knight!"
Halt nodded hugely, making sure the man could see the gesture.
Oh yes he is!" he called back. "He is Sir Horace of the Order of the Feuille du Chene." He paused and muttered to himself, "Or should that have been Crepe du Chene? Never mind."
What did you tell him?" Horace asked, slinging his buckler around from where it hung at his back and setting it on his left arm.
I said you were Sir Horace of the Order of the Oakleaf." Halt said to him, then added uncertainly, "At least, I think that's what I told him. I may have said you were of the Order of the Oak Pancake."

yeah this one was pretty good, though i don't have a favorite, they are all good ^^

message 23: by Diana (new)

Diana | 9 comments This is really long, you don't have to read it:
I liked this one a lot. I like how Halt's and Will's teacher-apprentice rlationship continues to grow and becomes more like a father-son relationship, which is good because it makes the ending more intense. I liked seeing the soft side of Halt, how he felt lonely when Will was away. Halt is really a big teddy bear. And we can see how Will loves and looks up to Halt. These things make it so heartbreaking when Will is taken as a slave. It was worse when Halt showed up...his appearance getnerated a false hope that Will and Halt would be quickly reunited. I didn't think that Will would really be taken away. Watching Halt desperately running toward the beach and the ship that is taking Will away, doing all he can to reach him but, being effectively powerless, ulitmately failing to save his apprentice--it was almost like he was losing his son, and it was heartwrenching. Watching on Will's side was sad too, seeing him notice Halt, disbelievingly, the vain hope rising in his heart, running to the edge of the boaat, about to jum to his father-like mentor (then looking back and worrying about Evanlyn--stupid Evanlyn!), only to be pulled back in despair by his captors. And the book ends with both Will and Halt, hopelessly calling out to each other, Halt pleading with Will to not give up, to stay alive, and promising to find him again someday. :'( And then soft, sad music plays quietly in the background as the Skandian ship disappears over the horizon. It's soooo sad! That music part wasn't in the book obviously but it was playing on my brother's videogame as I was finishing the book and really compounded the depressing tone of the scene. It was kind of creepy because the music wasn't really sad as it was simply...hopeless. A gentle, relaxing lullaby that, in that setting, made it seem as though it was persuading you to accept defeat and let go of those you loved.
Sorry that was so long.

Wow, I totally agree with that. I felt the same way.

message 25: by Tessa (new)

Tessa I know! I was so sad when the book ended that way. I felt so sorry for Halt and I was afraid for Will and Evanlyn.

message 26: by Diana (new)

Diana | 9 comments Haha I'm glad you agree. I agree with you Tessa except I don't like Evanlyn so I didn't really care in regards to her.

message 27: by Tessa (new)

Tessa Though Evanlyn isn't my favorite character, I was impressed by her bravery at the Bridge and her loyalty to Will. I mean, I don't think I could have been that brave!
